Frequently asked questions

Is this instrument safe for patients with latex allergies?

Yes, this rongeur is 100% latex-free. It is not made with natural rubber latex, making it a safe choice for surgical environments where patient latex sensitivities are a concern.

Can this instrument withstand repeated sterilization processes?

Absolutely. This is a reusable surgical instrument specifically engineered to endure the rigors of repeated clinical sterilization cycles, ensuring long-term utility in your facility.

What type of construction ensures durability for surgical use?

The instrument is crafted from high-grade stainless steel. This material is chosen for its superior strength, corrosion resistance, and ability to maintain structural integrity during delicate spinal procedures.

Does the handle design offer familiar ergonomics for surgeons?

Yes. This model features a finger ring profile that is similar to the popular Schlesinger and Cushing style rongeurs, providing surgeons with a comfortable and familiar handling experience compared to spring-loaded alternatives.

Is this tool suitable for precise spinal tissue removal?

Yes, it is designed specifically for debulking, cutting, and removing bone fragments and tissue within the intervertebral disc space. The 3mm cup-shaped tip allows for the precision required in these delicate orthopedic and neurosurgical procedures.

Is the upward curvature helpful for accessing difficult areas?

The curved upward tip configuration is specifically intended to aid in reaching and removing tissue in confined spinal areas, providing the necessary angle for more effective access during surgery.

Does this product meet government procurement standards?

Yes, this instrument is TAA compliant (Trade Agreements Act), meeting the necessary requirements for federal government purchasing.

Are there specific maintenance requirements I should know?

Because this is a professional-grade stainless steel surgical instrument, it requires standard surgical instrument reprocessing protocols—specifically cleaning and sterilization—to maintain its condition and longevity after each use.

Is the instrument delivered ready for immediate sterile use?

This instrument is shipped non-sterile. It must be properly cleaned and processed according to your facility’s sterilization protocols before it is used in any surgical procedure.

What is the expected lifespan of this Sklar instrument?
