Description

Sklar's Papavero-Caspar speculum is a hand held, duck billed neurological instrument used to remove tumors of the pituitary region - adenomas, craniopharyngiomas, biopsies and debulking of large tumors. The Papavero-Caspar is for transphenoidal entry, rather then an open craniotomy. This product is available in three different blade sizes. Like the Hardy, the Papavero-Caspar's blades are not as curved as the Cushing-Landolt in this product class.

Is this tool suitable for transsphenoidal procedures?

Yes, it is precision-engineered for transsphenoidal access. It is specifically intended for pituitary region procedures, including tumor removal (such as adenomas and craniopharyngiomas), biopsies, and tumor debulking, offering a focused alternative to open craniotomy.

Are there different sizes available to suit various anatomies?

Yes, to accommodate varying surgical needs and anatomical differences, the Papavero-Caspar Speculum is offered in three distinct blade sizes.

Is the material quality suitable for professional surgical use?

The instrument is manufactured from high-grade stainless steel, ensuring the robustness, precision, and longevity expected for delicate neurological procedures.

Does this instrument meet government procurement standards?

Yes, the Sklar Papavero-Caspar Speculum is TAA Compliant (Trade Agreements Act), verifying that it meets the rigorous standards required for government and institutional procurement.

Is this a single-use or a long-term clinical investment?

This is a reusable instrument designed for long-term clinical utility. Its durable construction is backed by a lifetime warranty from Sklar, reflecting confidence in its build quality.

Does it come ready to use out of the box?

The instrument is supplied non-sterile. Facilities must subject the tool to their standard validated sterilization protocols before its initial use in surgery.

Is the mechanism intuitive for manual adjustment during surgery?

Yes, the instrument features a dedicated manual adjustment mechanism on the shaft. This allows the surgeon to control the blade spread effectively and precisely during the procedure.
