Frequently asked questions

Does the instrument feature professional-grade stainless steel?

Yes, these forceps are manufactured by Sklar from high-quality, premium stainless steel. This material is specifically chosen to ensure the durability and reliability required for repeated sterilization and intensive use in demanding clinical environments.

How does the ratchet handle improve surgical precision?

The integrated locking ratchet mechanism on the finger ring handles allows surgeons to securely grasp and hold blood vessels in place. This provides a hands-free retention capability, freeing up the surgeon to maintain control and perform other tasks without needing to manually hold the instrument closed.

Is the curved design helpful for visibility?

Absolutely. The forceps feature a long, thin, and curved frame specifically engineered to minimize physical obstruction. This design ensures that the surgeon maintains optimal visibility of the surgical site and the anatomy they are navigating.

Are the blades designed for a secure grip?

Yes, the working edges of the forceps are fully serrated. This ensures a secure, non-slip grip on delicate vascular tissue while performing general surgery.

Does this tool meet TAA compliance standards?

Yes, the Sklar Overholt-Geissendoerfer Forceps are TAA (Trade Agreements Act) compliant. This makes them an ideal choice for government procurement projects and medical facilities that require certified, high-grade equipment.

Is the material safe for patients with latex allergies?

Yes, these instruments are not made with natural rubber latex, making them a safe choice for use in diverse surgical environments where latex sensitivities are a concern.

Are these forceps suitable for repeated sterilization?

Yes, because they are constructed from high-quality surgical-grade stainless steel and classified as reusable instruments, they are specifically built to withstand the rigors of repeated, professional-grade sterilization cycles.

Is the tip configuration suitable for blunt dissection or grasping?

The forceps feature a blunt tip configuration, which is intentionally designed to allow for safe, secure grasping of blood vessels while minimizing the risk of accidental trauma to surrounding tissues.

What is the total length of these forceps?

These forceps measure 10-1/2 inches in total length. This elongated profile is designed to provide excellent reach in confined surgical fields without sacrificing control.

Are these considered Sklar OR Grade instruments?

Yes, these forceps are Sklar OR Grade, which represents the brand’s commitment to high-quality, reliable, and precise instrumentation suitable for the operating room.
