Description

Sklar Halsted Micro Mosquito Forceps are used in multiple procedures as a hemostat for small blood vessels. The ratcheted finger ring handle provides a secure, locking grip to halt blood flow. They are not appropriate for use with larger vessels or arteries. A toothed variation is available for grasping delicate tissue in skin grafting, biopsies, or ophthalmologic procedures. Mosquito forceps are known for their fine tips, and short, fully serrated jaws. They are available curved or straight. The standard length for this instrument is 5 inches, although Sklar does offer some with a length of 5-1/2 inches. Halsted Mosquito Forceps are very similar to Hartmann Mosquito Forceps, however, the Hartmann style is finer and more delicate. This product is straight with serrated tips and a length of 5 inches.

Frequently asked questions

Does this tool offer a secure, non-slip locking grip?

Yes, this instrument is designed with a ratcheted finger ring handle. This mechanism allows the forceps to lock securely onto a target vessel, ensuring the clamp remains in place throughout your procedure.

Is this forceps built to withstand repeated use?

Absolutely. Constructed from high-quality stainless steel, these forceps are designed to be a durable, reusable surgical instrument suitable for long-term clinical use.

How precise are the tips for delicate applications?

These forceps feature fine, precision-engineered tips combined with short, fully serrated jaws. This configuration is specifically designed for delicate applications requiring high accuracy when grasping or clamping small blood vessels.

Is this model suitable for individuals with latex sensitivities?

Yes, this product is 100% latex-free and is not manufactured with any natural rubber latex, making it a safe choice for environments with latex-sensitive patients or staff.

What is the primary advantage of the straight configuration?

The straight design offers a direct line of access to the surgical site. It is particularly valued in general surgery and fine dissection work where a straight, unobstructed approach is needed for optimal visibility.

Is this instrument compliant with professional standards?

Yes, this product is TAA compliant, meeting specific trade agreement regulations suitable for use in government and institutional medical facilities.

Does the CensiTrac marking provide better instrument tracking?

Yes, the CensiTrac marking is specifically included on this model to assist facilities with standardized instrument tracking, inventory management, and lifecycle monitoring.

Does the instrument arrive ready for immediate surgical use?

The forceps are delivered non-sterile. They require standard sterilization processes by your facility’s protocols before they are used in any surgical or medical environment.

How does the Halsted style compare to smaller alternatives?

While similar in function to the Hartmann style, the Halsted design is more robust. It is engineered to be sturdy enough for general small vessel use without the overly delicate nature of smaller, more fragile forceps.

Is this tool effective for controlling small blood vessels?

Yes, it is designed specifically as a hemostat. The serrated jaws and locking ratchets provide the reliable clamping force necessary to halt blood flow in small vessels effectively during procedures.
