Description

Sklar Halsted Micro Mosquito Forceps are used in multiple procedures as a hemostat for small blood vessels. The ratcheted finger ring handle provides a secure, locking grip to halt blood flow. They are not appropriate for use with large vessels or arteries. A toothed variation is available for grasping delicate tissue in skin grafting, biopsies, or ophthalmologic procedures. Mosquito forceps are known for their fine tips, and short, fully serrated jaws. They are available curved or straight. The standard length for this instrument is 5 inches, although Sklar does offer some with a length of 5-1/2 inches. Halsted Mosquito Forceps are very similar to Hartmann Mosquito Forceps, however, the Hartmann style is finer and more delicate. This product is curved with serrated tips and a length of 5 inches.

Frequently asked questions

Are these forceps reliable for controlling small vessel bleeding?

Yes, these are specifically designed as Halsted Micro Mosquito Forceps for precision hemostasis. Their 5-inch length and fine, curved tips make them ideal for managing blood flow in delicate, small-scale procedures.

Do these forceps stay locked securely during use?

Absolutely. The forceps feature a built-in ratcheting finger ring mechanism. This allows you to lock the jaws into place, maintaining a secure, consistent hold on a vessel without the need for constant manual pressure.

Is high-quality stainless steel used in the construction?

Yes, they are crafted from high-grade stainless steel. This material selection ensures that the instrument is durable, fully reusable, and resistant to the rigors of repeated surgical use.

Are these forceps safe for patients with latex allergies?

Yes, these instruments are completely latex-free. They are manufactured without any natural rubber latex, making them safe for use on patients with latex sensitivities.

Does the serrated jaw design prevent tissue slippage?

Yes, the jaws are fully serrated. This design is specifically engineered to maximize grip security, ensuring that delicate tissues or small vessels are held firmly and safely without slipping.

Are these forceps suitable for specialized surgical kits?

They are an excellent addition to any professional toolkit. Their TAA-compliant status and precision engineering make them suitable for a wide range of sensitive applications, including:

  • Ophthalmic procedures
  • Biopsies
  • Skin grafting
  • General micro-hemorrhage control
Do I need to clean these before their first use?

Yes. These forceps are delivered non-sterile. You must follow standard clinical sterilization protocols for surgical instruments before incorporating them into any procedure.

What is the benefit of the CensiTrac marking?

The CensiTrac marking indicates that the instrument is compatible with modern instrument tracking and management systems, which helps facilities maintain rigorous inventory control and sterilization records for their surgical tools.

Are these forceps designed for heavy-duty or delicate work?

These are specialized for delicate, micro-level work. While they are robust, they are specifically configured as ‘Micro’ forceps to provide the finesse required for small vessels rather than general-purpose, larger artery forceps.

Is the design truly meant for a lifetime of use?

Sklar stands behind the quality of their craftsmanship with a Lifetime Warranty against manufacturing defects. Because they are constructed from durable stainless steel and are fully reusable, they are intended to be a long-term asset in your clinical setting.
