Description

Sklar's Littauer Stitch Scissors are primarily used for suture removal. These scissors have a small hook shaped tip on one blade that slides under sutures to slightly lift them before cutting for removal. This hook also holds the suture so it does not slip off the blade of the scissors prior to cutting. Littauer Stitch Scissors are most commonly available in the length of 5-1/2 inches, therefore, they typically have larger, less delicate tips than Spencer Stitch Scissors, and are used for removing larger sutures. They should not be used for cutting tissue. This product is straight with smooth, blunt/blunt tips and a length of 5-1/2 inches. They also feature a delicate pattern.

Frequently asked questions

Are these scissors designed specifically for suture removal?

Yes, the Sklar Littauer Suture Scissors are engineered precisely for this purpose. The unique suture hook tip slides under sutures to lift and secure them, ensuring a precise cut without damaging the surrounding tissue.

Is this instrument made of high-grade surgical steel?

Yes, these scissors are constructed from durable, high-quality stainless steel. This material ensures the instrument’s longevity and performance, making it suitable for repeated, professional, and reusable use.

Is this product safe for latex-sensitive environments?

Absolutely. The Sklar Littauer Suture Scissors are manufactured to be completely free of natural rubber latex, making them a safe and compliant choice for healthcare settings and patients with latex sensitivities.

Can I use these for general cutting tasks?

These scissors are strictly intended for suture removal only. Because they feature blunt/blunt tips and a specialized hook design, they are not suitable for cutting tissue or other general-purpose surgical cutting.

Are these comfortable for extended use?

They feature a traditional, ergonomic design with standard finger rings. This provides a secure and comfortable grip, allowing for the precise manipulation required during delicate post-operative suture removal.

How does the hook tip help during the procedure?

The small hook on one blade is a critical design feature. It allows you to: - Lift the suture: Easily slide underneath the knot or stitch. - Prevent slippage: Secure the suture against the blade, ensuring an accurate cut without it sliding away during the process.

Do these meet TAA compliance standards?

Yes, the Sklar Littauer Suture Scissors are fully TAA compliant, meeting the regulatory requirements for government and clinical procurement standards.

Are these intended for reuse after cleaning?

Yes, these are reusable surgical instruments. They are built to withstand standard sterilization and cleaning protocols necessary for professional clinical environments.

Is the 5-1/2 inch length standard for delicate work?

Yes, the 5-1/2 inch length is a balanced size that provides enough reach for comfortable handling while maintaining the fine control needed for delicate tasks. It is specifically optimized for working with larger suture sizes.

Are these delivered ready for immediate sterile use?

No, these scissors are supplied non-sterile. They require standard hospital-grade sterilization procedures before their first use in a clinical setting.
