Description

Sklar's Kraff-Utrata Capsulorhexis Forceps are an ophthalmic instrument used during cataract procedures. In order to remove a clouded lens (a cataract), a thin membrane (the capsule), that surrounds the lens must be incised. These forceps feature cystotome tips, which are sharp and needle like, and used to puncture and create an initial cut in the membrane. The jaws of the forceps are then used to tear, in a C-shaped motion, and lift the membrane surrounding the clouded lens (the cataract) so it can be removed. The lens is then typically replaced with a plastic, prescription lens. This product is has angled jaws that are 12mm long with .33mm fine tips. The handle is flat and the overall length is 4 inches.
