Description

Sklar's Kogan Endocervical Speculum is a gynecological instrument used for viewing the distal endocervical canal. Unlike a traditional, duckbill speculum, this single spring, locking, finger-ring intrument features opposing, fenestrated blades at the end of long jaws. The jaws and blades extend deeper into the cervix and can therefore retract deeper tissue. An endocervical speculum is frequently used in colposcopy procedures, or where polyps cannot be easily visualized. This product has a ratchet locking mechanism. It features narrow blades, 2-4mm wide with serrations on the outside of the blade, and an overall length of 11 inches.

Frequently asked questions

Does this speculum offer superior visibility for colposcopy?

Yes. The Kogan Endocervical Speculum is specifically engineered to provide precision visualization of the distal endocervical canal. Unlike standard duckbill specula, this instrument is designed to access areas where visualization might otherwise be obstructed, making it ideal for procedures involving polyps or deep tissue inspection.

Is the blade design optimized for secure tissue retraction?

Absolutely. The speculum features narrow wire blades (2-4mm wide) equipped with external serrations. These serrations are designed to provide a secure, stable grip on tissue, ensuring controlled retraction during complex gynecological examinations.

Can I rely on the locking mechanism during delicate procedures?

Yes, the instrument is built with a reliable ratchet locking mechanism. This allows clinicians to maintain precise, hands-free tension at the desired position throughout the duration of a procedure.

Is this instrument built from high-quality stainless steel?

Yes, this instrument is constructed from high-grade stainless steel. This material choice ensures the tool is durable, corrosion-resistant, and capable of withstanding the rigors of frequent use in professional clinical settings.

Is the speculum compatible with standard medical sterilization protocols?

Yes. As a reusable, high-grade stainless steel instrument, it should be processed using standard medical facility cleaning and sterilization protocols designed for surgical-grade metal equipment.

Is this product latex-free?

Yes, the Sklar Kogan Endocervical Speculum is not made with natural rubber latex, making it safe for use with patients who have latex sensitivities or allergies.

How long is the reach of this instrument?

The total instrument length is 10-1/2 inches. This elongated design is specifically intended to facilitate deeper insertion than standard specula, providing the necessary reach for specialized endocervical diagnostic tasks.

Is this instrument compliant with professional medical manufacturing standards?

Yes, the speculum features a TAA-compliant design. This designation confirms that it meets specific requirements for quality and origin, ensuring it is suitable for procurement in demanding clinical environments.

Does the single-spring design improve ease of use?

The single-spring mechanism is integrated into the design to provide smooth, responsive operation. It works in conjunction with the ratchet lock to ensure that the blades open and close with consistent, predictable tension.

Is this considered a professional-grade medical instrument?

Yes. This is a factory-new, professional-grade instrument manufactured by Sklar, a trusted name in medical instrumentation. It is intended specifically for use by gynecologists and medical professionals in clinical or hospital settings.
