Description

Sklar's Kogan Endocervical Speculum is a gynecological instrument used for viewing the distal endocervical canal. Unlike a traditional, duckbill speculum, this single spring, locking, finger-ring intrument features opposing, fenestrated blades at the end of long jaws. The jaws and blades extend deeper into the cervix and can therefore retract deeper tissue. An endocervical speculum is frequently used in colposcopy procedures, or where polyps cannot be easily visualized. This product has a dual screw locking mechanism that adjust along a bar near the finger rings. The bar is gauged with both centimeter and millimeter measurements. This product has wide blades, 4-8mm wide, and an overall length of 11 inches.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Kogan Endocervical Speculum built for long-term clinical use?

Yes, this instrument is designed for durability. It is constructed from high-quality stainless steel, making it a robust, reusable tool built to withstand the rigors of repeated clinical examinations.

How does the dual screw mechanism improve procedure precision?

The dual screw locking mechanism provides enhanced control during procedures. It operates along an integrated adjustment bar that features clear centimeter and millimeter markings, allowing clinicians to achieve and maintain exact positioning with confidence.

Is this tool suitable for patients with latex sensitivities?

Absolutely. The Sklar Kogan Endocervical Speculum is not made with natural rubber latex, making it a safe and appropriate choice for practices that need to accommodate patients with latex allergies.

What makes this speculum better for visualizing the endocervical canal?

Unlike standard duckbill specula, this model features long jaws with opposing, fenestrated blades. This specialized configuration is engineered specifically to retract distal cervical tissue, providing superior visualization of the endocervical canal, particularly during colposcopy or polyp assessment.

Can this be used for deep tissue visualization?

Yes. With a total length of 11 inches and a design optimized for retraction, this speculum is specifically crafted to reach deeper into the cervix than standard diagnostic tools, assisting in more complex gynecological examinations.

Does this instrument meet institutional regulatory requirements?

Yes, the product is TAA compliant, ensuring it meets necessary requirements for government and institutional procurement.

Is the blade width adjustable?

The blades are designed with a fixed ‘wide wire’ configuration that provides a contact width of 4-8mm. This geometry is optimized for stability and visibility during cervical procedures.

Is the instrument sterile upon arrival?

The Sklar Kogan Endocervical Speculum is provided non-sterile. It is a reusable stainless steel instrument and should be processed according to your facility’s standard sterilization protocols before its first use.

Is this a more sustainable option than disposable specula?

Because it is classified as a reusable instrument, this speculum offers significant long-term value and reduces waste compared to single-use disposable alternatives, making it an excellent investment for a busy clinical setting.

Does this tool come with any long-term quality assurance?

Yes, this instrument is backed by a lifetime warranty, reflecting the manufacturer’s commitment to the high-quality stainless steel construction and overall craftsmanship of the product.
