Frequently asked questions

Are these forceps made from high-quality stainless steel?

Yes, these Sklar Kocher Intestinal Forceps are manufactured from premium medical-grade stainless steel. This material is chosen specifically for its durability and its ability to withstand the rigors of repeated clinical sterilization cycles.

Can these forceps be safely reused in a clinical setting?

Absolutely. These instruments are designed as fully reusable surgical tools. Their robust construction ensures they maintain their integrity and performance over long-term clinical use.

Is the design optimized for handling delicate intestinal tissue?

Yes, the design is highly specialized for intestinal work:

  • Longitudinal Serrations: These jaws provide a secure, non-slip grip that minimizes the risk of tissue slippage.
  • Precision Geometry: The long jaws and shorter shanks provide surgeons with optimal leverage and easier access during procedures.
Are these forceps free from natural rubber latex?

Yes, this instrument is not made with natural rubber latex, making it a safe choice for use in patients or environments where latex sensitivities are a concern.

Does the curvature offer better access during surgery?

The curved configuration is intentional, allowing for better visibility and access when manipulating large organs or navigating specific anatomical structures during surgery.

How long is this specific surgical instrument?

This model features a standard length of 8-1/2 inches, providing the reach necessary for deep-cavity surgical tasks.

Is this a non-ratcheted surgical instrument?

Yes, this is a non-ratcheted finger ring forceps. This specific design choice allows for more precise, manual control when the surgeon requires immediate tension adjustment without the limitation of a locking mechanism.

Does this product meet professional compliance standards?

Yes, this instrument is TAA compliant, meeting the necessary requirements for quality and origin standards suitable for clinical environments.

How much do these forceps weigh for handling purposes?

These forceps are engineered to be lightweight, weighing only 0.01 pounds. This minimizes hand fatigue during extended or complex surgical procedures.

Are these forceps provided as sterile products?

These instruments are supplied as non-sterile. They must be cleaned and sterilized according to your facility’s standard protocols for reusable stainless steel surgical instruments before their first use.
