Description

Sklar® Hartmann Mosquito forceps are used as both a hemostat and for fine tissue dissection in shallow wounds and procedures. Most commonly utilized in plastic and vascular surgeries, Hartmann Mosquito Forceps can also be used in pediatric and ophthalmologic procedures. Known for their fine tips, short, and fully serrated jaws, these Mosquito Forceps can be used as a clamping instrument to halt blood flow so that cauterization or ligation can be performed. They are also used for holding small, fine sutures. Hartmann Mosquito Forceps are shorter and heavier than Halstead Mosquito Forceps. This product is curved with serrated tips and a length of 3-3/4 inches.

Frequently asked questions

Are these forceps suitable for delicate pediatric surgeries?

Yes, these forceps are specifically indicated for pediatric and ophthalmologic applications where precision is required. Their fine tips and curved design make them excellent for manipulating delicate tissues or holding fine sutures.

Is the stainless steel material durable for repeated sterilization?

Absolutely. These instruments are constructed from high-quality, durable stainless steel designed for repeated use in surgical settings. They are built to withstand the rigors of standard cleaning and sterilization protocols.

How does the ratchet lock system improve performance?

The integrated ratchet lock system provides a secure, consistent grip during procedures. This allows the surgeon to maintain tension on blood vessels or sutures without having to manually keep the jaws clamped shut, ensuring reliable hemostasis.

Are these forceps safe for patients with latex allergies?

Yes, the Sklar Hartmann Mosquito Forceps are manufactured without natural rubber latex, making them a safe choice for patients with latex sensitivities.

Does the curved design help in tight anatomical spaces?

The curved shaft and fine tips are intentionally designed to improve access and visibility in tight anatomical spaces, particularly when performing hemostasis in shallow wounds during vascular or plastic surgery.

How do these compare to standard Halstead forceps?

The Hartmann Mosquito Forceps are distinguished by their shorter and heavier build compared to the Halstead model, offering a different tactile feel and grip stability for specific surgical needs.

Are the jaws effective at preventing slippage?

Yes, the working edges feature fully serrated jaws. These serrations are designed to maximize friction, providing a secure grip on both fine tissue and delicate suture material.

Are these instruments compliant with government procurement standards?

Yes, these forceps are TAA compliant, meeting the necessary requirements for federal procurement and government use.

What is the best way to utilize the fine tips?

The fine tips are ideal for fine tissue dissection and precise hemostasis. They excel when you need to clamp small blood vessels in shallow wounds or grasp delicate materials during specialized procedures.

Are these provided as sterile or non-sterile?

These forceps are supplied non-sterile. They are factory-new instruments that should be subjected to your facility’s standard sterilization process before their initial surgical use.
