Description

Sklar Edge Tungsten Carbide Z-Type Parametrium Scissors are a non-ratcheted finger ring OB/GYN instrument used for cutting Parametrium tissue, also known as cervical stroma, in vaginal hysterectomy procedures. Z-Type Parametrium Scissors are available in multiple lengths with various curvatures so as to compliment the size and curvature of Z-Type Hysterectomy Forceps. This is so the two instruments can be used in conjunction with one another without blocking the view of the physician. Sklar Edge Tungsten Carbide Scissors provide an exceptionally durable and hard cutting edge. These scissors are designed to stay sharp for a significantly longer period of time than standard scissors. Sklar permanently bonds tungsten carbide inserts to the blades of the scissors which maximizes control and precision. Sklar Edge scissors can be identified by two gold coated finger rings. This product is slightly curved with smooth edges, blunt/blunt tips, and a length of 10-1/2 inches.

Frequently asked questions

Is the blade material highly durable?

Yes, these scissors feature Tungsten Carbide (TC) inserts permanently bonded to the stainless steel blades. This construction provides:

  • Exceptional hardness for the cutting edge.
  • Extended sharpness retention compared to conventional, non-TC scissors, ensuring consistent performance over time.
Are these designed for specific surgical procedures?

These instruments are precision-engineered for OB/GYN applications, specifically for cutting Parametrium tissue during vaginal hysterectomies. Their specialized design allows for the high-precision cutting of dense connective tissue required in these complex procedures.

Will these maintain a clear view during surgery?

Yes, they are specifically optimized to be used alongside Sklar Z-Type Hysterectomy Forceps. The 10-1/2 inch length and unique curvature are calculated to prevent visual obstruction, allowing the physician to maintain an unobstructed view of the operative field during concurrent use.

How can I identify the premium grade?

You can easily identify the Sklar Premium grade by the distinctive dual gold-coated finger rings. This signature aesthetic distinguishes these instruments as high-quality, professional-grade tools within the Sklar Edge surgical instrument line.

Is this a ratcheted surgical instrument?

No, these are non-ratcheted surgical instruments. This design supports smooth, continuous movement and offers the surgeon immediate control, which is essential for the fluid and precise cutting motions required during a vaginal hysterectomy.

Does the tip design prioritize patient safety?

The blunt/blunt (B/B) tip configuration is specifically chosen for patient safety. By utilizing blunt ends rather than sharp, pointed tips, these scissors focus on effective tissue separation while significantly minimizing the risk of accidental puncture or trauma to surrounding delicate anatomy.

Are these safe for latex-sensitive surgical environments?

Yes, these instruments are completely latex-free. They are not manufactured with any natural rubber latex, making them fully suitable for use in surgical settings where managing latex allergies is a priority.

Are these instruments intended for repeated use?

Yes, these scissors are classified as reusable instruments. They are constructed from premium stainless steel, designed to withstand the rigors of standard, repeated sterilization cycles within professional surgical environments.
