Frequently asked questions

Does the tungsten carbide provide superior longevity?

Yes. The permanently bonded tungsten carbide inserts provide an exceptionally hard and durable cutting edge. This advanced technology ensures that the scissors maintain their sharpness significantly longer than standard stainless steel instruments, allowing for consistent performance over time.

Are these scissors suitable for delicate ophthalmic work?

Absolutely. These scissors are designed specifically for ophthalmic dissecting procedures, such as Strabismus (cross-eye) treatment. The 4-1/2” curved profile and blunt/blunt tips are engineered to provide the high level of control and precision required for delicate ocular tissue.

What is the benefit of the blunt/blunt tip design?

The blunt/blunt tip configuration is purposefully chosen for safety during surgery. It allows the surgeon to perform blunt dissection and maneuver through delicate structures without the risk of accidental puncture or trauma that can occur with sharp-tipped instruments.

Can these scissors be reused in a clinical setting?

Yes, these are designed as reusable instruments. They are built to withstand the rigors of professional surgical environments. Please note that they are supplied non-sterile, so they must be properly cleaned, sterilized, and processed according to your facility’s protocols before their first use and between procedures.

How can I easily identify these tungsten carbide scissors?

You can quickly distinguish this premium Sklar Edge model by the dual gold-coated finger rings. This specific feature is an industry-standard indicator for high-quality tungsten carbide inserts, helping staff quickly identify the correct instrument during a procedure.

Is this product free from natural rubber latex?

Yes, these scissors are guaranteed to be free from natural rubber latex, making them a safe choice for use with patients or staff who may have latex sensitivities.

Are these scissors compliant with TAA regulations?

Yes, this instrument is fully TAA compliant, meeting the necessary requirements for procurement and use in government-funded or regulated healthcare facilities.

What is the quality grade of this surgical instrument?

This product is designated as Sklar Premium or Grade quality. This reflects its high-level craftsmanship, durable materials, and suitability for the demanding requirements of professional ophthalmic surgery.
