Description

Sklar Edge TC Supercut Sklarhone Metzenbaum-Lahey scissors are used for dissecting and cutting tissue only. Metzenbaum-Lahey scissors tend to be shorter than traditional Metzenbaum scissors. They are not recommended for cutting sutures or drains. Sklar Edge TC Supercut Sklarhone scissors provide effortless, precise cutting. They feature one knife-like razor edge and one micro-serrated edge along with the strength and durability of tungsten carbide. They can be used to cut both delicate and heavy tissue with minimal tearing or pulling. Sklar permanently bonds tungsten carbide inserts to the blades of the scissors which maximizes control and precision. These scissors are also designed to stay sharp for a significantly longer period of time than standard scissors. This instrument can be identified by its handle of one black finger ring and one gold finger ring. This product is straight, has one razor edge, one micro-serrated edge, blunt tips, and an overall length of 5-3/4 inches.

Frequently asked questions

Why use tungsten carbide inserts in these scissors?

The permanently bonded tungsten carbide (TC) inserts are a critical upgrade. They provide significantly extended sharpness retention compared to standard stainless steel scissors, ensuring you maintain precise cutting performance over a much longer product lifespan.

What is the benefit of the dual-edge system?

These scissors combine two distinct cutting styles for maximum versatility: - Razor Edge: Provides a clean, knife-like cut for delicate tissues. - Micro-Serrated Edge: Helps grip tissue securely, preventing slipping and ensuring a precise cut on heavier tissue without unwanted pulling or tearing.

Are these scissors suitable for all surgical tasks?

These are precision tools specifically engineered for tissue dissection. Please note they are strictly intended for dissecting and cutting soft tissue and are not recommended for use on sutures or drains, which can dull the specialized blades.

How can I easily identify this specific scissor?

This model features a distinct, high-contrast handle design to prevent mix-ups in the operating room. You can instantly identify them by the one gold finger ring and one black finger ring configuration.

Is this a durable, long-term investment?

Absolutely. These scissors are manufactured to the Sklar Premium Grade standard using high-quality stainless steel and tungsten carbide. They are designed as reusable instruments and are backed by a manufacturer’s Lifetime Warranty, reflecting their build quality.

How do these differ from traditional Metzenbaum scissors?

While they maintain the classic Metzenbaum-Lahey style suited for dissection, the ‘Sklarhone Super-Cut’ enhancement makes them more specialized. They are designed to be shorter (5-3/4 inches) and include the high-performance TC inserts, offering a significant upgrade in edge retention and cutting precision compared to standard, non-TC models.

Are these instruments safe for latex-sensitive environments?

Yes. This product is not made with natural rubber latex, making it suitable for use in facilities that require latex-free equipment.

Does the blunt tip design affect performance?

The blunt/blunt (B/B) tip configuration is a standard, safe choice for blunt dissection procedures. It allows for safe tissue separation while minimizing the risk of accidental puncture or damage to underlying structures.

Are these instruments sterile upon arrival?

These scissors are delivered non-sterile. As professional-grade, reusable surgical instruments, they must be processed and sterilized according to your facility’s protocols before their first use.

What does the TAA compliant label indicate?

The TAA (Trade Agreements Act) compliance confirms that these instruments meet specific manufacturing origin requirements, making them eligible for purchase by government agencies and institutions that require adherence to these procurement standards.
