Description

Sklar's Director and Tongue Tie is commonly used in examining the mouth of a pediatric patient. It is also used in the treatment of ankyloglossia, or "tongue tie." One end of the instrument is flat, and the other can be pointed or have a small, round probe. The flat end is the tongue tie. It is pear shaped with a central split from the distal end. The split in the flat end assists in isolating and stabilizing the tongue or the lingual frenulum during procedures. The pointed or probe end is used to examine the rest of the mouth.

Frequently asked questions

Is this instrument suitable for pediatric procedures?

Yes, this instrument is specifically engineered for pediatric use. Its dimensions and specialized ends make it ideal for oral examinations and treatments in both infants and toddlers.

How does the tool help with ankyloglossia treatment?

The instrument features a specialized pear-shaped end with a central split. This unique design allows the clinician to effectively isolate, elevate, and stabilize the lingual frenulum, providing the precision needed during tongue-tie procedures.

Does this tool offer versatility for general oral exams?

Absolutely. While one end is designed for frenulum stabilization, the opposing end acts as a probe. This allows for seamless transitions between stabilization tasks and a general oral examination of the remaining cavity.

Is the construction durable enough for repeated sterilization?

Yes. The instrument is crafted from high-quality stainless steel, designed to withstand the rigors of repeated cleaning and sterilization cycles required in clinical settings.

Are any latex components used in this instrument?

No, this product is manufactured without natural rubber latex, making it a safer option for patients with latex sensitivities.

What is the total length of the instrument?

The instrument measures exactly 5-1/2 inches in length, providing an optimal balance for delicate handling and maneuverability within a small oral cavity.

Does the instrument arrive ready for immediate clinical use?

The instrument is delivered non-sterile. Like most surgical-grade tools, it must be cleaned and sterilized according to your facility’s protocols before being used on a patient.

Is this a TAA-compliant medical tool?

Yes, this product is TAA compliant, ensuring it meets the regulatory standards required for use in government and medical facilities that prioritize adherence to trade agreements.

Is the design optimized for precise tissue manipulation?

It is. The combination of the pear-shaped, split end and the fine probe tip offers high-precision functionality, allowing for controlled manipulation of delicate oral tissues.

Does the manufacturer stand behind the build quality?

Yes, Sklar stands behind this instrument with a lifetime warranty, reflecting their confidence in the precision engineering and long-term durability of the tool.
