Description

Sklar's Director and Tongue Tie is commonly used in examining the mouth of a pediatric patient. It is also used in the treatment of ankyloglossia, or "tongue tie." One end of the instrument is flat, and the other can be pointed or have a small, round probe. The flat end is the tongue tie. It is pear shaped with a central split from the distal end. The split in the flat end assists in isolating and stabilizing the tongue or the lingual frenulum during procedures. The pointed or probe end is used to examine the rest of the mouth.

Frequently asked questions

Is the stainless steel construction medical grade?

Yes, this instrument is manufactured from high-quality stainless steel, ensuring it is durable enough to withstand repeated sterilization and cleaning cycles common in busy clinical environments.

How does the split end help during procedures?

The pear-shaped end with a central split is specifically engineered to effectively isolate and stabilize the lingual frenulum. This design provides the necessary control for clinicians during tongue-tie (ankyloglossia) interventions.

Is this instrument safe for patients with latex allergies?

Absolutely. This tool is not made with natural rubber latex, making it a safe choice for pediatric patients and clinicians with latex sensitivities.

Does it require special care after use?

As this instrument arrives non-sterile, it requires appropriate clinical reprocessing before its first use and between subsequent procedures. Its stainless steel construction is designed to endure these rigorous sterilization protocols.

Is the probe end effective for general oral exams?

Yes, the dual-ended design includes a specialized probe tip on one end. This allows clinicians to easily transition from stabilizing the lingual frenulum to conducting a comprehensive examination of other areas within the oral cavity.

Is this tool suitable for pediatric use?

Yes, the Sklar Director and Tongue Tie is specifically designed for oral examinations in pediatric patients and is widely considered an essential instrument for neonatology and pediatric dentistry.

Is this a TAA-compliant instrument?

Yes, this product is TAA compliant, meeting the requirements for supply to government agencies and facilities that mandate Trade Agreements Act standards.

What is the benefit of the lifetime warranty?

The lifetime warranty reflects the manufacturer’s high level of confidence in the instrument’s build quality, materials, and long-term durability in a professional surgical setting.

Is this a precision-engineered surgical tool?

Yes, it is a professional-grade instrument designed for delicate intra-oral work. Its precision design ensures that the clinician can perform frenulum assessments and releases with accuracy and ease.

What is the exact length of the instrument?

The instrument is 4-1/2 inches (approximately 11.4 cm) long, a size specifically chosen to provide optimal balance and control during delicate pediatric oral procedures.
