Frequently asked questions

Does the diamond-coated jaw prevent suture slippage?

Yes. The specialized diamond-coated, finely cross-serrated jaws are specifically engineered to provide an exceptionally secure and reliable hold. This technology significantly reduces the risk of fine sutures slipping during high-stakes microvascular or cardiovascular procedures.

Is the spring handle designed for fluid, repetitive use?

Absolutely. The ergonomic spring-action handle is designed without a locking mechanism. This allows for fluid, rapid, and repetitive movements, offering the tactile sensitivity required for delicate microsurgery without the delay of engaging or disengaging a ratchet.

Does the needle holder feature high-quality materials?

Yes, this instrument is constructed from a high-durability combination of:

  • Tungsten Carbide: Used at the jaw surfaces for superior grip and wear resistance.
  • Stainless Steel: Used for the frame to ensure structural integrity and longevity.
Is this instrument optimized for restricted surgical fields?

Yes. Its micro-profile precision design features a tapered, straight shaft. This geometry is specifically optimized for maneuverability and visibility within the confined spaces of microvascular surgical environments.

Is this tool suitable for repeated sterilization?

Yes, it is a reusable OR-grade instrument. It is designed to withstand the rigorous demands of repeated sterilization cycles without compromising the integrity of the tungsten carbide jaws or the stainless steel frame.

Is the handle easy to identify during surgery?

The instrument features a distinctive yellow-coated spring handle. This design choice not only assists with identification in the surgical field but also provides a comfortable, light-touch grip for the surgeon.

Is the product latex-free?

Yes, the Sklar DIA Jacobson Needle Holder is 100% latex-free and is not manufactured using natural rubber latex, making it safe for patients and staff with latex sensitivities.

Is the instrument fully TAA compliant?

Yes, this product is TAA compliant, meeting the necessary manufacturing and origin standards required for government procurement.

Does the blunt tip configuration provide enough control?

The blunt tip configuration is intentionally selected for this model to facilitate safe handling and precise grasping of fine-gauge needles, minimizing trauma while maintaining a firm hold on delicate materials.

Can I rely on this for complex microsurgery?

Yes. As a professional-grade Sklar OR Grade instrument, it is explicitly designed for the rigorous demands of microvascular and cardiovascular procedures where speed, accuracy, and consistent pressure are critical to success.
