Description

Sklar Desmarres Chalazion Forceps are ophthalmologic thumb forceps used to evert the eyelid and expose chalazion for drainage and removal. The instrument has two sideways oval tips. One is solid and the other is fenestrated. The chalazion on the eyelid is isolated between the two tips and the forceps are tightened by an attached screw, which pushes the chalazion upwards so a procedure can be completed. The size and consistency of the chalazion are primary factors when choosing which chalazion forceps to use. Larger chalazion, as well as those with hard matter, will require larger incisions. Therefore, forceps with larger tips may be more useful. Similarly, smaller chalazion, or those determined to contain only fluid, may be excised with smaller incisions and the use of forceps with a smaller diameter. This product is straight with smooth tips and a length of 3-1/2 inches. The tips of this product are considered small and are approximately 11mm x 18mm.

Frequently asked questions

Is this made from durable, professional-grade materials?

Yes, these forceps are constructed from high-quality stainless steel. This material choice ensures they are durable enough for repeated surgical use and compatible with standard hospital sterilization protocols.

Are the tips suitable for delicate eyelid procedures?

Absolutely. The 11mm x 18mm small tips are specifically designed for precision. The smooth, straight edges ensure minimal tissue trauma while providing excellent control during eyelid eversion.

How does the dual-tip design improve procedure control?

The forceps feature a specialized configuration: one solid tip and one fenestrated tip. This unique combination, paired with the integrated screw mechanism, allows surgeons to securely grasp, elevate, and isolate the chalazion effectively.

Is this instrument safe for patients with latex sensitivities?

Yes. These forceps are confirmed to be not made with natural rubber latex, making them a safe and professional choice for surgical environments and patients with latex allergies.

Can these forceps withstand standard sterilization protocols?

Yes. Because they are manufactured from high-grade stainless steel, they are designed to be fully reusable and are compatible with all standard hospital sterilization and autoclave procedures.

Is this tool effective for smaller, fluid-filled lesions?

It is specifically calibrated for that purpose. The small tip size (11mm x 18mm) and smooth working edges are ideal for smaller chalazia or those suspected of containing only fluid, offering precision where larger instruments might be too bulky.

Is the screw mechanism easy to adjust during surgery?

The forceps include a reliable tightening screw mechanism that connects the tips. This design provides the surgeon with a precise way to push the chalazion upwards and keep it securely positioned throughout the procedure.

Is this instrument compliant with professional procurement standards?

Yes, the Sklar Desmarres Chalazion Forceps are TAA compliant, meeting the necessary procurement and quality standards required by many clinical and government medical facilities.

Are these forceps suitable for repeated clinical use?

They are engineered specifically for reusable application. Unlike disposable options, this robust stainless steel tool is designed to maintain its structural integrity and performance through multiple sterilization cycles.

Is this tool specialized for eyelid eversion?

Yes, they function as ophthalmologic thumb forceps specifically engineered to evert the eyelid. This allows for clear exposure of the lesion, making drainage or removal procedures both precise and efficient.
