Horizontal serrations the entire length of the jaw, and jaws half the length of the shank make this instrument unique. There is a ratchet locking mechanism for a tight, secure hold on vessels. They may also be used for soft tissue dissection typically no deeper than 6-8 inches or in Laparotomy procedures. This product is curved with serrated tips, and an overall length of 5-1/2 inches.

Frequently asked questions

Are these forceps suitable for repeated, long-term use?

Yes, these are professional-grade, reusable instruments. Constructed from high-quality stainless steel, they are designed to withstand the rigors of repeated surgical use.

What is the primary advantage of the Crile jaw design?

The Crile jaw is specialized for precision. It features horizontal serrations along the entire length of the jaw, which provides a superior, non-slip grip on vessels and tissue compared to standard forceps.

Can I rely on these forceps to hold securely during procedures?

Absolutely. They are equipped with an integrated ratchet locking mechanism. This ensures that once you clamp onto a vessel or tissue, the instrument remains securely engaged until you release it.

Is the material safe for patients with latex sensitivities?

Yes, these forceps are completely latex-free. They are not manufactured using any natural rubber latex, making them a safe choice for diverse clinical environments.

Why is the CensiTrac marking significant?

The CensiTrac marking identifies these instruments as part of an advanced tracking system. This is often utilized in institutional settings to help with inventory management, sterilization record-keeping, and the tracking of surgical instruments throughout their lifecycle.

Are these forceps TAA compliant?

Yes, this product is TAA (Trade Agreements Act) compliant. This is an important designation for government, military, or institutional purchasing where specific manufacturing origin requirements must be met.

How deep into tissue can these be effectively used?

With an overall length of 5-1/2 inches and a curved geometry, they are ideal for soft tissue dissection and clamping in anatomical areas that are generally within a 6 to 8-inch depth range, such as in Laparotomy procedures.

Does the curved tip offer a specific functional benefit?

The curved tip design is specifically engineered to improve visibility and accessibility. It allows surgeons to reach vessels and tissues in tighter or more difficult anatomical spaces than would be possible with a straight instrument.

Are these sterile upon arrival?

These instruments are delivered non-sterile. They will require proper cleaning and sterilization processing according to your facility’s protocols before they are ready for their first surgical use.

What is the quality assurance behind this instrument?

Sklar is a trusted name in surgical instrumentation. This product is backed by a lifetime warranty, which reflects the manufacturer’s confidence in the durability and high-grade construction of the stainless steel material.
