Description

Sklar's Caspar detachable rongeur is used in orthopedic procedures, including laminectomies, discectomies and other spinal procedures requiring debulking or removing the vertebral arch. The handle design eases manual operation and effective grip while preserving the structure of the disc. A distinguishing feature of the Caspar, the cupped tip is serrated and fenestrated. It is available straight, angled up or angled down. The Caspar is available in different lengths and bite sizes. When the back hammer is pulled, the crossbar detaches from the shank, easing sterilization.

Frequently asked questions

Does the detachable shaft simplify the sterilization process?

Yes, it is specifically designed for enhanced sterilization. The detachable shaft mechanism allows the crossbar to separate from the shank when the back hammer is pulled. This ensures that the instrument can be thoroughly cleaned and sterilized, meeting high standards required for surgical equipment.

Is this rongeur suitable for precision bone removal?

Absolutely. This Sklar Caspar Rongeur is engineered for orthopedic procedures like laminectomies and discectomies. It features a 3mm bite size and a specialized cupped tip that is both serrated and fenestrated, making it highly effective for controlled debulking of the vertebral arch.

How durable is the construction of this instrument?

You can expect long-term reliability as it is constructed from high-quality surgical-grade stainless steel. This durable material is chosen for its strength and ability to withstand repeated sterilization cycles without compromising performance.

Is the handle designed for ergonomic comfort during long procedures?

Yes, the handle features finger rings specifically shaped to assist with manual operation. This ergonomic design ensures an effective grip while helping to minimize trauma to adjacent structures, such as the disc, during intricate procedures.

Are there any natural rubber latex components used?

No, this product is completely latex-free. It is manufactured without the use of natural rubber latex, making it a safe choice for surgical environments.

Is this a reusable surgical instrument?

Yes, this instrument is designed for repeated reuse. It is built to be a permanent addition to your surgical set, provided it undergoes proper cleaning and sterilization protocols between uses.

Does this meet regulatory standards for medical instruments?

Yes, the Sklar Caspar Rongeur is TAA compliant, ensuring it meets the rigorous standards required for government-related and professional medical procurement.

Is the tip configuration optimized for tissue removal?

Definitely. The distal end features a serrated, fenestrated cupped tip. This design serves two purposes: the serrations provide an enhanced grip on the tissue, while the fenestration allows for efficient material passage, preventing clogging during bone removal.
