Description

Sklar's Caspar detachable rongeur is used in orthopedic procedures, including laminectomies, discectomies and other spinal procedures requiring debulking or removing the vertebral arch. The handle design eases manual operation and effective grip while preserving the structure of the disc. A distinguishing feature of the Caspar, the cupped tip is serrated and fenestrated. It is available straight, angled up or angled down. The Caspar is available in different lengths and bite sizes. When the back hammer is pulled, the crossbar detaches from the shank, easing sterilization.

Frequently asked questions

Does the detachable shaft truly simplify sterilization?

Yes, it is designed specifically for that purpose. By pulling the back hammer, the crossbar separates from the shank, which allows for much more thorough cleaning and sanitation compared to fixed-shaft models.

Is the stainless steel grade suitable for long-term use?

Absolutely. This rongeur is manufactured from high-quality stainless steel intended for reusable surgical-grade instrumentation, ensuring it remains durable and reliable through repeated procedures.

How effective is the tip for bone removal?

The tip is highly optimized for precision. It features a cupped shape that is both serrated and fenestrated, which is specifically engineered to provide maximum efficacy when debulking and removing spinal arch material.

Will the handle provide a secure grip during surgery?

Yes, the handle is designed with ergonomic finger rings. These are specifically included to facilitate precise manual operation and ensure you maintain a firm, controlled grip during intricate surgical tasks.

Is this instrument safe for patients with latex allergies?

Yes, this product is not made with natural rubber latex, making it a safe choice for use in surgical environments where latex-free materials are required.

Is this rongeur compliant with professional surgical standards?

Yes, the instrument is fully TAA compliant and meets Sklar’s high-grade quality standards, ensuring it is appropriate for use in professional clinical settings.

Does the straight configuration offer precision for specific procedures?

The straight configuration is ideal for procedures requiring direct access, such as specific laminectomies or discectomies where the 4mm bite size allows for accurate and controlled bone removal.

What is the expected maintenance for the detachable components?

Because the shaft is detachable, the components require reassembly before use and disassembly after use for cleaning. This simple mechanism ensures you can maintain the instrument’s integrity and hygiene standards effectively.
