Description

Sklar Schroeder-Braun tenaculum forceps are a ratcheted, finger ring instrument commonly used in OB/GYN procedures involving manipulation of the cervix or uterus, most commonly D&C, and vaginal or abdominal hysterectomy. They are also used to grasp, hold, and move vessels and arteries during surgical procedures. The tips of the Schroeder-Braun tenaculum forceps have two flattened prong tips that angle inward at 90 degrees. The prongs overlap, providing a strong hold on the tissue, but are also traumatic to tissue. Sklar Blue electrosurgical instruments have an insulated coating to prevent radio frequency currents from being transmitted through the instrument - thereby reducing burning of non-targeted tissues. Sklar Blue instruments are fully autoclavable and may also be cleaned ultrasonically.

Frequently asked questions

How does the insulation protect surrounding tissues during use?

The instrument features a specialized non-conductive coating over the stainless steel body. This coating actively blocks the transmission of radio frequency currents, which effectively protects adjacent, non-targeted tissues from unintended thermal damage during electrosurgical procedures.

Is this instrument designed for repeated sterilization?

Yes, it is designed for durability and repeated use. The instrument is fully compatible with standard sterilization protocols, including:

  • Full Autoclaving
  • Ultrasonic Cleaning
Does this meet TAA compliance standards for surgical environments?

Yes, this Sklar Blue instrument is fully TAA compliant, making it a suitable choice for surgical environments that require adherence to these specific procurement standards.

Does the handle design provide a secure hold?

Absolutely. The instrument features a classic finger ring handle paired with a precise, integrated ratchet mechanism. This design ensures a firm, reliable grip on tissues and vessels, allowing for controlled manipulation during surgery.

Is the material free from natural rubber latex?

Yes, this product is guaranteed to be not made with natural rubber latex, ensuring it is safe for use with patients who have latex sensitivities.

What specific procedures is this tenaculum designed for?

This instrument is engineered for delicate gynecological procedures requiring precise tissue manipulation, including:

  • D&C (Dilation and Curettage)
  • Vaginal Hysterectomies
  • Abdominal Hysterectomies
Is there a guarantee regarding the instrument's longevity?

Yes, this product is backed by a Lifetime warranty, which assures high-quality construction and long-term performance reliability for surgical settings.

How effective are the Braun style tips for grasping?

The Braun style flat-pointed tips are specifically configured to angle inward at 90 degrees. When closed, these prongs overlap, which allows for a very strong and secure grasp on delicate tissues and arteries.

Is this constructed from high-grade stainless steel?

Yes, the core of the instrument is crafted from durable stainless steel. This high-grade material is chosen for its strength and ability to withstand the rigors of repeated surgical use and sterilization cycles.

What is the primary benefit of the 10-inch length?

The 10-inch length provides an optimal balance of reach and control, which is essential for navigating gynecological procedures where precise access to deeper tissues is required.
