Description

The Sklar Blue Electrosurgical Graves Vaginal Speculum is used for electrosurgical gynecological procedures, such as LEEP. It is a double blade duckbill speculum inserted with the blades closed. The blades are then opened by an external lever and screw. The Graves Speculum has wider blades than the Pederson Speculum and the practitioner can best determine which type and size speculum is most appropriate for the patient. The Sklar Blue Electrosurgical Graves Vaginal Speculum is available with a permanent smoke evacuation tube, a loop for disposable smoke evacuation tubing, or no smoke evacuation. Sklar Blue electrosurgical instruments feature high quality stainless steel with an insulated coating. This safe coating prevents radio frequency currents from being transmitted through the instrument which reduces the burning of non-targeted tissue. Sklar Blue instruments are fully autoclavable and may also be cleaned ultrasonically. All Sklar Blue coated instruments comply with biological testing requirements for cytotoxicity, sensitization regulatory, and ISO 10993 requirements. They also comply with the Pre-Vacuum and Gravity Cycle Steam Sterilization Validation of ANSI/AAMI ST79. This product is a small sized speculum with 3" X 3/4" blades. There is no smoke evacuation device.

Frequently asked questions

How does the insulation protect the patient?

The Sklar Blue insulation coating is specifically engineered to prevent the transmission of radio frequency (RF) currents through the instrument. By creating a non-conductive barrier, it significantly minimizes the risk of accidental burning to non-targeted, surrounding tissue during electrosurgical procedures.

Is this speculum safe for patients with latex allergies?

Yes, this instrument is manufactured without natural rubber latex, making it a safe and suitable option for patients with latex sensitivities.

Is the material durable enough for daily clinical use?

Absolutely. It is constructed from high-quality stainless steel, ensuring robust performance. It is designed for repeated use in clinical environments and is fully compatible with rigorous sterilization protocols.

What is the benefit of the Graves design?

The Graves design utilizes wider blades compared to the standard Pederson style. This configuration provides the practitioner with:

  • Improved visualization of the vaginal canal.
  • Enhanced accessibility during electrosurgical procedures such as LEEP.
Can this be sterilized using an autoclave?

Yes, the instrument is fully autoclavable. It complies with the ANSI/AAMI ST79 standards for Pre-Vacuum and Gravity Cycle steam sterilization, ensuring it can be safely and effectively reprocessed for clinical reuse.

Does the coating impact biological safety?

The materials and coatings used strictly adhere to high standards of biological safety. The device is fully compliant with ISO 10993 requirements for cytotoxicity and sensitization, ensuring patient safety during contact.

What specific dimensions are the blades?

This small-size model features blades measuring 3 inches by 3/4 inches, providing precise dimensions for focused gynecological examinations and procedures.

Is this tool compatible with ultrasonic cleaning?

Yes, the device is designed for versatile reprocessing. In addition to being fully autoclavable, it is compatible with ultrasonic cleaning methods to ensure thorough maintenance and hygiene.

Does this model include built-in smoke evacuation?

No, this specific configuration is designed without smoke evacuation tubes or loops. It is a streamlined instrument focused on the electrosurgical Graves pattern functionality.

Is this instrument compliant with strict medical standards?

Yes. It meets several professional benchmarks, including:

  • ISO 10993 (Biological compatibility).
  • ANSI/AAMI ST79 (Steam sterilization validation).
  • TAA compliance.
