Description

The Sklar Blue Electrosurgical Graves Vaginal Speculum is used for electrosurgical gynecological procedures, such as LEEP. It is a double blade duckbill speculum inserted with the blades closed. The blades are then opened by an external lever and screw. The Graves Speculum has wider blades than the Pederson Speculum and the practitioner can best determine which type and size speculum is most appropriate for the patient. The Sklar Blue Electrosurgical Graves Vaginal Speculum is available with a permanent smoke evacuation tube, a loop for disposable smoke evacuation tubing, or no smoke evacuation. Sklar Blue electrosurgical instruments feature high quality stainless steel with an insulated coating. This safe coating prevents radio frequency currents from being transmitted through the instrument which reduces the burning of non-targeted tissue. Sklar Blue instruments are fully autoclavable and may also be cleaned ultrasonically. All Sklar Blue coated instruments comply with biological testing requirements for cytotoxicity, sensitization regulatory, and ISO 10993 requirements. They also comply with the Pre-Vacuum and Gravity Cycle Steam Sterilization Validation of ANSI/AAMI ST79. This product is a extra-small sized speculum with 2-3/4" X 5/8" blades. It has a loop to hold and direct disposable smoke evacuation tubing.

Frequently asked questions

Does the insulation provide reliable safety during electrosurgery?

Yes, this speculum features a high-quality, non-conductive insulating coating. This is specifically designed to prevent radio frequency currents from transmitting through the instrument, which significantly reduces the risk of accidental burning to non-targeted tissue during procedures like LEEP.

Is the construction durable enough for daily clinical use?

Absolutely. It is manufactured from robust, professional-grade stainless steel. The instrument is designed for long-term utility in a clinical environment and is fully compliant with biological testing requirements such as ISO 10993 and ANSI/AAMI ST79 steam sterilization validation.

How does the integrated loop assist with smoke evacuation?

The speculum features a dedicated, integrated loop on the side of the handle frame. This loop is designed to securely hold and direct disposable smoke evacuation tubing, which helps keep the surgical field clear and streamlines your clinical workflow.

Can this speculum be sterilized using an autoclave?

Yes, it is designed for ease of maintenance. The unit is fully autoclavable and is also compatible with ultrasonic cleaning, ensuring it meets the rigorous sanitation standards required for gynecological instruments.

What are the specific blade dimensions for this extra-small model?

This extra-small Graves vaginal speculum features blade dimensions of 2-3/4 inches by 5/8 inches, providing precise visualization for your specific procedural needs.

Is the material free from natural rubber latex?

Yes, this product is not made with natural rubber latex, making it a safer option for both practitioners and patients with latex sensitivities.

How does the Graves design benefit the practitioner?

Compared to Pederson specula, the classic Graves duckbill design provides wider blades. This allows for optimal visualization of the surgical site, which is essential for successful electrosurgical interventions.

Is the adjustment mechanism precise during operation?

The speculum features an external lever and a mechanical screw mechanism. The adjustment knobs are textured and knurled to ensure a secure, non-slip grip, allowing for precise and steady control while positioning the blades.

Does this product meet high regulatory compliance standards?

Yes, the Sklar Blue Electrosurgical Speculum is TAA Compliant and strictly adheres to necessary medical device standards, including ISO 10993 and ANSI/AAMI ST79 for steam sterilization.

Are these instruments suitable for radio frequency procedures?

They are specifically engineered for radio frequency use. The specialized blue insulated coating is the defining feature of the Sklar Blue line, ensuring electrical safety when paired with standard electrosurgical generators during interventions like LEEP.
