Description

The Sklar Black Pederson Vaginal Speculum is used for laser gynecological procedures. It is a double blade duckbill speculum inserted with the blades closed. The blades are then opened by an external lever and screw. The blades of the Pederson Speculum are more narrow than the blades of the Graves Speculum. The practitioner can best determine which type and size speculum is most appropriate for the patient. The Sklar Black Pederson Vaginal Speculum is available with a permanent smoke evacuation tube, a loop for disposable smoke evacuation tubing, or no smoke evacuation. Sklar Black Laser instruments feature a non-reflective black polymer coating applied over the sandblasted instrument developed specifically for laser surgeries. This safe, durable coating reduces laser reflection to less than one-tenth of a percent, ensuring a safer surgical environment for patients and surgical staff. All Sklar Black coated instruments comply with biological testing requirements for cytotoxicity, sensitization regulatory, and ISO 10993 requirements. They also comply with the Pre-Vacuum and Gravity Cycle Steam Sterilization Validation of ANSI/AAMI ST79. This product is a large speculum with 4 3/4" x 1" blades. It has a loop to hold and direct disposable smoke evacuation tubing.

Frequently asked questions

Does this speculum effectively minimize dangerous laser reflections?

Yes, it is specifically engineered for laser gynecological procedures. It features a non-reflective black polymer coating applied over a sandblasted stainless steel base, which reduces laser reflection to less than one-tenth of a percent, significantly enhancing safety for both patients and medical staff.

How does the Pederson design improve patient comfort?

The Pederson style utilizes a double-bladed duckbill configuration with blades that are narrower than the traditional Graves speculum. This design allows for easier insertion while the patient is closed, providing a more comfortable experience for the patient during the examination or procedure.

Can I easily integrate smoke evacuation during procedures?

Absolutely. This model is equipped with a specialized integrated loop specifically designed to hold and direct disposable smoke evacuation tubing. This ensures a clean and clear workspace during laser surgeries, helping to manage smoke effectively.

Is this instrument safe for repeated clinical use?

Yes, this is a durable, reusable stainless steel instrument. It is designed to withstand repeated steam sterilization cycles and is fully compliant with ANSI/AAMI ST79 sterilization validation protocols.

Does the coating meet high biological safety standards?

Yes, the product is highly compliant with medical regulatory standards. It has passed stringent ISO 10993 requirements, including specific tests for cytotoxicity and sensitization, ensuring that the material is safe for clinical applications.

Are there any natural rubber latex components used?

No, this speculum is not made with natural rubber latex, making it a safer option for patients or staff with latex allergies.

What are the dimensions of the blades on this large model?

This large-sized speculum features blades measuring 4 3/4 inches in length by 1 inch in width, providing a reliable fit for standard clinical use.

How is the blade opening mechanism controlled?

The instrument is designed for precision and stability. It features an external lever and screw mechanism that allows the practitioner to open the blades smoothly and lock them securely at the desired width.

Is this instrument compatible with standard steam sterilization methods?

Yes, the instrument is engineered to comply with Pre-Vacuum and Gravity Cycle Steam Sterilization validation as per ANSI/AAMI ST79, ensuring that it can be reliably sterilized in standard clinical autoclaves.

How durable is the specialized black coating?

The black polymer coating is professionally applied over a sandblasted stainless steel substrate. This construction is specifically engineered for the rigors of surgical environments, providing long-lasting durability while maintaining its critical light-absorbing, non-reflective properties.
