Description

Sklar's Beckman-Weitlaner Retractor is a self-retaining, finger ring retractor with a cam ratchet lock used for holding back tissue and exposing a surgical site. It has curved shanks with hinged arms that lead to blades that have between two and six, sharp or blunt, outward curving prongs. The prongs interdigitate when the instrument is closed. The hinged arms of the Weitlaner-Beckmann retractor allow the blades to be used in difficult to reach surgical sites, such as in spinal or intracranial procedures. This product has 3x4 blunt prongs and a length of 6-1/2 inches.

Yes, this retractor is equipped with a cam ratchet lock mechanism. This feature ensures secure, hands-free tissue retraction, allowing the surgeon to maintain consistent exposure throughout the procedure.

Does the design facilitate access to confined surgical sites?

It is specifically engineered with curved shanks and hinged arms. This design is highly advantageous for accessing difficult-to-reach areas, such as those encountered in spinal or intracranial surgeries.

Are the prongs designed for gentle tissue handling?

The instrument features 3x4 blunt, outward curving prongs. These are specifically shaped to provide secure grip while minimizing trauma to the tissue during retraction.

Is this instrument safe for latex-sensitive environments?

Yes, this retractor is not made with natural rubber latex, making it safe for use in clinical settings with patients who have latex sensitivities.

Is this instrument built for frequent, long-term reuse?

Absolutely. It is manufactured as a durable, reusable surgical instrument. It is designed to withstand the rigors of a standard sterile processing environment, offering reliable long-term performance.

Does this meet official TAA compliance standards?

Yes, the Sklar Beckman-Weitlaner Retractor is fully TAA compliant, ensuring it meets the regulatory standards required for procurement in government and institutional healthcare settings.

How do the blades function during tissue engagement?

The working end consists of blades with outward curving prongs that interdigitate when the instrument is closed. This action helps to firmly secure the tissue in the desired position.

Does the handle design offer intuitive control?

The retractor utilizes a standard finger ring handle style, which is favored in surgical instrumentation for providing surgeons with ergonomic control and precise adjustment during blade positioning.

Is the instrument ready for immediate use upon arrival?

No, this instrument is provided non-sterile. It must be processed, cleaned, and sterilized according to your facility’s established infection control protocols before its first use.

Is this suitable for complex orthopedic or neurological procedures?

Yes, it is highly recommended for orthopedic, neurological, and general surgeries where sustained, precise tissue retraction is required in moderately deep or restricted surgical cavities.
