Description

The Newman Medical Audio PPG Probe (#DPPG) is made for monitoring blood flow and performing TBI tests. The Photoplethysmography Probe is an excellent choice for taking a toe pressure for the Toe/Brachial Index exam, and also in any application for monitoring of blood flow at the extremities. The probe monitors blood flow with a beep after each pulse, and can be used with DigiDop Dopplers. When used in conjunction with the 1.9 cm Digit Cuff (#CUFF-240D), the PPG Probe can conduct TBI studies using the ABI-300 Manual System for ABI and TBI testing.

Note: Audio cable (#CBL-110) is NOT included, and must be purchased separately.

Warranty: 5 Years - Parts and Labor.

Frequently asked questions

Does the probe specialize in Toe/Brachial Index exams?

Yes, the Newman Medical Audio PPG Probe is a specialized device designed primarily for vascular assessment and Toe/Brachial Index (TBI) examinations.

This probe is uniquely suited for use with patients who may have incompressible arteries, ensuring accurate measurement of peripheral blood flow. It employs Photoplethysmography (PPG) technology and provides immediate auditory feedback via a distinct beep synchronized with every detected pulse.

What devices is the Newman Medical Audio PPG Probe compatible with?

The Newman Medical Audio PPG Probe is compatible with DigiDop Dopplers and the ABI-300 Manual System (when used with the 1.9 cm Digit Cuff #CUFF-240D).

Does the probe use digitally optimized processing?

Yes, the Newman Medical Audio PPG Probe features Digitally Optimized Processing (DOP) technology. This advanced feature is crucial for clinical performance, offering several benefits:

 • Superior Signal Strength: The DOP technology provides exceptional clarity, yielding up to six times the signal strength compared to competitive dopplers.
 • Precise Monitoring: This enables accurate monitoring of peripheral blood flow and is specifically engineered for precise Toe/Brachial Index (TBI) examinations, even for patients with incompressible arteries.
 • Audible Feedback: The probe provides real-time detection via an audible beep synchronized with each pulse.
Does the Newman Medical Audio PPG Probe have any replaceable parts?

Yes, the Newman Medical Audio PPG Probe has replaceable components. The PPG sensor and the cords are user-replaceable, which extends the lifespan of the probe.

What is included with the PPG Probe?

The package for the Newman Medical Audio PPG Probe includes the PPG Probe unit itself, which has an integrated 3.5-foot cord. It does not include any other components.

Important Note on Connectivity:

The required Audio Cable (#CBL-110), necessary for connecting the probe to compatible systems like the DigiDop Dopplers or ABI-300 Manual System, is NOT included and must be purchased separately.

For enhanced durability and longevity, the probe is designed with a user-replaceable PPG sensor and is compatible with user-replaceable cords.

How does the audible beep enhance monitoring?

The audible beep provides critical, real-time auditory feedback that significantly enhances monitoring efficiency, especially during peripheral blood flow assessments and Toe/Brachial Index (TBI) examinations. Its benefits include:

 • Immediate Pulse Confirmation: The probe is designed to emit a clear audible beep after each pulse is detected, providing instant verification of blood flow.
 • Real-Time Tracking: This synchronized audio signal allows clinicians to accurately monitor peripheral circulation continuously without needing to focus solely on a visual readout.
 • Simplified Procedures: The audio feedback is particularly helpful in procedures like TBI testing, aiding in the accurate capture of toe pressure readings.
What are the probe's dimensions and weight?

The Audio PPG Probe is designed to be highly compact and lightweight for ease of clinical use:

 • Weight: Approximately 20 grams (0.75 ounces).
 • Dimensions: 4 inches x 1 inch (100 mm x 25 mm).
 • Cord Length: It features an integrated 3.5-foot cord.
What key vascular assessments does this specialized probe perform?

The Newman Medical Audio PPG Probe (Model #DPPG) is specifically designed for crucial, specialized vascular assessments:

 • Peripheral Blood Flow Monitoring: It uses photoplethysmography (PPG) technology to monitor blood flow in the extremities, providing immediate, non-visual feedback via an audible beep synchronized with each pulse.
 • Toe/Brachial Index (TBI) Examinations: The probe is essential for performing the toe pressure measurements required for comprehensive TBI testing.

A core advantage of this probe is its use of Digitally Optimized Processing (DOP) technology, which provides exceptional signal clarity and strength—up to six times the signal output of competitive dopplers. This high performance makes the device particularly suitable for challenging cases, including monitoring patients with incompressible arteries.

Is the probe suitable for incompressible arteries?

Yes, the Newman Medical Audio PPG Probe is specifically designed to aid in vascular assessments for patients with challenging conditions.

It is fully suitable for use when monitoring peripheral blood flow in patients presenting with incompressible arteries, making it ideal for procedures like the Toe/Brachial Index (TBI) examination.

Is the probe designed for long-term clinical use?

Yes, the Newman Medical Audio PPG Probe is engineered for durability and longevity in busy clinical environments. Key features that ensure a long functional lifespan include:

User-replaceable components: The PPG sensor can be easily swapped out, and the device is compatible with replaceable cords.

Robust construction: Designed for high-performance signal acquisition with a lightweight, ergonomic build.

Reliability: Manufactured in the USA to high precision standards for consistent vascular diagnostic performance.
