Description

Medipurpose Mediplus-Foam Ag Dressing. Dressings consist of breathable, polyurethane foam sandwiched between an outer layer of breathable, polyurethane film and would-contacting polyethylene net containing silver metal ions (Ag+). These three layers are laminated together to produce a soft, think and elastic wound dressing. The outside film acts as a bacterial barrier, and the silver inhibits bacterial growth in the dressing, which helps to prevent colonization on the dressing. Silver is added to the dressing to prevent bacterial growth within the dressing. This product contains 79 ppm of elemental silver bound within the wound dressing. Dressings provide physical separation between the wound and external environments to assist in preventing bacterial contamination of the wound. Soft, breathable outside film provides moisture vapor transmission from the foam layer for exudates management. Absorbent and conformable pad. Wound contact layer is laminated PE net, preventing sticking to wounds. Individually packed in peel pouch and EO sterilized.

Frequently asked questions

Does the dressing contain antimicrobial silver ions?

Yes, the Mediplus-Foam Ag Dressing is specifically engineered to include silver metal ions ($ ext{Ag}^+$) for robust antimicrobial protection directly within the dressing material.

This feature actively inhibits bacterial growth and helps prevent the colonization of microbes on the dressing surface.

Key specifications of the active agent:

  • Active Agent: Silver metal ions ($ ext{Ag}^+$)
  • Concentration: Contains 79 ppm of elemental silver

This makes the dressing highly effective for wounds requiring both advanced exudate management and internal bacterial inhibition.

Does this dressing offer antimicrobial protection?

Yes, the Mediplus-Foam Ag Dressing is engineered for advanced wound care and provides protection through a dual-mechanism:

  • Active Antimicrobial Agent: The dressing contains 79 ppm of elemental silver ions (Ag+) bound within the material. This silver actively inhibits bacterial growth and prevents microbial colonization within the dressing itself.
  • Physical Bacterial Barrier: The multi-layered construction includes an outer, breathable polyurethane film that acts as an effective physical barrier against external bacteria and contaminants, helping to prevent wound infection.
Is the antimicrobial foam dressing sterile?

Yes, the Mediplus-Foam Ag Dressing is confirmed to be sterile.

  • Each unit is individually packaged in a protective peel pouch.
  • Sterilization is achieved using the Ethylene Oxide (EO) method, ensuring safety and compliance for wound application.
Is the wound contact layer non-adherent?

Yes, the Medipurpose Mediplus-Foam Ag Dressing is specifically designed to minimize adherence.

The wound-contacting layer is a laminated Polyethylene (PE) net which is engineered to:

  • Prevent Sticking: Ensures the dressing does not adhere to the delicate wound bed.
  • Minimize Trauma: Facilitates gentle, less painful removal, protecting newly formed tissue.
Does the dressing contain 79 ppm of silver?

Yes, the Mediplus-Foam Ag Dressing is specifically formulated with antimicrobial properties, featuring 79 ppm (parts per million) of elemental silver bound within the dressing structure.

This silver content (Ag+ ions) is designed to:

  • Inhibit bacterial growth.
  • Prevent colonization within the dressing material, providing enhanced protection for the wound environment.
Does the dressing have antimicrobial protection?

Yes, the Mediplus-Foam Ag Dressing is specifically engineered to provide robust antimicrobial protection and prevent bacterial colonization within the dressing structure.

Key features contributing to its protection include:

  • Active Silver Ions: The dressing incorporates 79 ppm of elemental silver (Ag+) bound within the material. This high concentration actively works to inhibit bacterial growth within the dressing.
  • Bacterial Barrier: The advanced three-layer construction includes a durable, breathable outer polyurethane film that acts as a physical barrier, helping to protect the wound from external contamination.
  • Sterility: Each unit is individually packaged in a peel pouch and sterilized using Ethylene Oxide (EO), ensuring aseptic application.

This combination of chemical inhibition and physical barrier promotes a protected environment conducive to optimal wound care.

How does the dressing manage wound exudate?

The Mediplus-Foam Ag Dressing uses its three-layer construction to achieve effective fluid handling and moisture control:

  • High Absorbency: The dressing’s core is a soft, thick, and elastic polyurethane foam layer that effectively absorbs and retains wound exudates.
  • Moisture Regulation: The outer polyurethane film acts as a bacterial barrier while remaining breathable. This soft film allows for essential moisture vapor transmission (MVT), facilitating the controlled evaporation of fluid from the foam layer. This mechanism prevents saturation and helps maintain an optimal moist environment for healing.
  • Conformability: The pad is designed to be highly conformable, ensuring consistent contact and continuous absorption across different wound shapes and contours.
Does the breathable outer film manage moisture?

Yes, the breathable outer polyurethane film is integral to the dressing’s function, ensuring effective wound management through a dual approach that focuses on both moisture control and protection.

Dual Functionality of the Outer Film

  1. Efficient Exudate Management: The soft, breathable film allows for controlled moisture vapor transmission from the absorbent foam layer. This process is crucial for managing exudate, preventing maceration, and maintaining the slightly moist environment essential for rapid healing.
  2. Bacterial Barrier: The film also acts as a reliable bacterial barrier, providing physical separation and safeguarding the wound bed from external contamination.
Are various sizes available for this foam dressing?

Yes, the Mediplus-Foam Ag Dressing is offered in several sizes to suit different wound care requirements. All sizes are packaged with 10 units per box.

Available sizes include:

  • 3” x 4” (7.5cm x 10cm)
  • 4” x 4” (10cm x 10cm)
  • 6” x 6” (15cm x 15cm)
Does the wound contact layer prevent sticking?

Yes, this dressing is specifically engineered for comfortable and gentle removal, minimizing trauma to the wound bed.

This benefit is ensured by the unique non-adherent wound contact layer:

  • The innermost layer is a laminated polyethylene (PE) net.
  • This layer is designed to prevent the dressing from adhering to the wound, allowing for easy and pain-free changes.
