Sandi S.

I used these in hospital. With recurring DVT's, can these be used long term? For 1 person, will I need anything else besides the Compression system, express tubing assembly and calf sleeves?

MFI Medical

Hello Sandi,

Thank you for your inquiry.

Based on our current product data, the Kendall SCD system is intended for clinical and home environments, and the Kendall SCD Adjustable DVT Compression Therapy Comfort Sleeve Calf Garment is listed as a single-patient-use garment.

For your long-term use question, our current listing does not confirm whether this therapy should be used long term for recurring DVTs. Because that is not specified in the product data, please confirm long-term use with your clinician and Cardinal directly. The manufacturer support number listed for this product line is (800) 964-5227.

For a one-person setup, no additional required hardware is listed beyond a compatible controller and sleeve. If you purchase the Kendall SCD 700 Compression System, it already includes:

Kendall SCD 700 controller
Kendall SCD EXPRESS tubing assembly
Rechargeable battery pack
6-foot medical-grade power cord
So, if you are purchasing the SCD 700 system plus the calf sleeves, you would generally not need to buy a separate tubing assembly unless you want an extra or replacement set.

The calf sleeve sizing listed in our current product data is:

Medium: fits calf circumference under 21 inches
Large: fits calf circumference under 26 inches
From the product details and compatible-item search, the optional complementary items we found are:

Kendall SCD Express Compression Sleeve - Thigh Length - Medium, if thigh-length therapy is preferred
Kendall SCD Sequential Compression Comfort Tear-Away Sleeve - Thigh Length, Medium, if easier application and removal is preferred
2 Year Medical Devices & Equipment Replacement or 3 Year Medical Devices & Equipment Replacement for added protection on the controller
We also found a compatible knee-length comfort sleeve recommendation, but since you are already asking about the calf garment, I have not repeated it as a separate recommendation.

Let us know if you have any additional questions.
