Description

Gentell . This system is designed to sustain effective levels of graduated compression for up to 7 days. The first layer, an absorptive padding layer, provides padding for bony prominences, distributes compression evenly over the leg and absorbs exudate. The second layer provides short-stretch compression by resisting expansion of the calf muscle during limb movement. It works with the third and fourth layers elastic compression bandages to effectively minimize edema and increase venous return. A wound contact dressing is included with the system to help maintain a moist wound healing environment and to protect the wound from lint or outside contaminants. Does not contain natural rubber latex.

Frequently asked questions

How long can the Gentell Dufore® Bandaging System provide effective compression?

The Gentell Dufore® Bandaging System is designed to provide sustained graduated compression for up to 7 days, promoting optimal healing.

Is the Gentell Dufore® Bandaging System safe for patients with latex allergies?

Yes, the Gentell Dufore® Bandaging System features a latex-free formula, making it safe for patients with latex sensitivities.

What is included with the Gentell Dufore Bandaging System?

The Gentell Dufore Bandaging System is a comprehensive multi-layer system designed for graduated compression. It includes a wound contact dressing to protect the wound and maintain a moist healing environment. The system itself is comprised of four integrated layers:

  • An absorptive padding layer for cushioning, even compression distribution, and exudate absorption.
  • A short-stretch compression layer to resist calf muscle expansion during movement.
  • Two elastic compression bandages that work with the other layers to minimize edema and enhance venous return.
What does the absorptive padding layer do?

The absorptive padding layer (Layer 1) in the Dufore system performs three key functions:

  • It provides necessary padding for bony prominences.
  • It ensures the even distribution of compression across the limb.
  • It absorbs exudate, aiding in wound management.
How does the short-stretch layer enhance compression?

The short-stretch layer (Layer 2) is specifically designed to resist the expansion of the calf muscle during limb movement. This mechanism is crucial for maintaining effective, sustained compression, which in turn works to minimize edema and promote superior venous return.

What does the wound contact dressing provide?

The included wound contact dressing is a critical element for wound management. It serves two main functions to support healing:

  • Maintains a moist healing environment: This is essential for optimal cellular regeneration.
  • Provides protection: It shields the wound bed from external contaminants and lint.
What is the system designed to treat?

The Gentell Dufore Bandaging System provides sustained graduated compression primarily for lower extremity venous management. Its therapeutic goals are achieved through a four-layer design that helps to:

  • Minimize edema (swelling).
  • Promote increased venous return.

The system is engineered to maintain effective compression levels for up to 7 days.

What are the compression system's four layers?

The Gentell Dufore Bandaging System is a comprehensive four-layer compression system designed for sustained therapy for up to 7 days. The components work synergistically to minimize edema and promote venous return.

The system includes:

  • Layer 1 (Absorptive Padding): Cushions bony prominences, ensures uniform compression distribution, and manages wound exudate.
  • Layer 2 (Short-Stretch Compression): Designed to resist the expansion of the calf muscle during limb movement, which enhances the overall compression effect.
  • Layers 3 & 4 (Elastic Compression): Two final elastic compression bandages that optimize therapeutic outcomes.

Additionally, a wound contact dressing is included to protect the wound from contaminants and maintain an optimal moist healing environment.

Does this system effectively reduce swelling?

Yes, the Gentell Dufore Bandaging System is specifically engineered to effectively minimize edema (swelling) and enhance venous return through its four-layer design. The combined action of the layers works synergistically to achieve this.

What is the primary benefit of its layered design?

The primary benefit of its layered design is to provide sustained, graduated compression for up to 7 days, minimizing reapplication frequency. Each layer has a specific function:

  • Layer 1: Absorptive padding, even compression distribution, and bony prominence protection.
  • Layer 2: Short-stretch resistance against calf muscle expansion during movement.
  • Layer 3 & 4: Elastic compression for edema minimization and increased venous return.
