Description

Econo Sterile Spencer (Littauer) Stitch Scissors are primarily used for suture removal. These scissors have a small hook shaped tip on one blade that slides under sutures to slightly lift them before cutting for removal. This hook also holds the suture so it does not slip off the blade of the scissors prior to cutting. They are most commonly available in lengths of 3-1/2" and 4-1/2" and therefore typically have smaller, more delicate tips that are used for removing smaller sutures. They should not be used for cutting tissue. Econo Sterile instruments are ready-to-use, sterile, disposable, floor-grade instruments sold in bulk quantities. This product is straight with smooth, blunt/blunt tips and a length of 3-1/2 inches. They are sold in cases of 50.

Frequently asked questions

Does the hook design prevent sutures from slipping?

Yes, the integrated hook-tipped blade is specifically engineered to slide underneath a suture, lifting it slightly before the cut is made. This design ensures the thread stays securely in position, preventing it from sliding off the blade during removal.

Are these scissors safe for patients with latex allergies?

Absolutely. These instruments are not made with natural rubber latex, making them a safe choice for use in any clinical setting where latex sensitivities may be a concern.

Is the stainless steel quality consistent with professional standards?

Yes, these are manufactured by Sklar, a trusted name in surgical instrumentation. Despite being designed for disposable use, they are constructed from high-quality stainless steel to ensure reliable performance during the suture removal process.

Are these scissors suitable for removing very fine sutures?

They are ideal for that purpose. Because of their compact 3-1/2” length, these scissors feature delicate, fine-tuned tips that are specifically optimized for manipulating and cutting smaller, more precise sutures.

Do these instruments require any cleaning or sterilization before use?

No. These are Econo Sterile grade instruments, meaning they arrive pre-sterilized and ready to use immediately out of the packaging, which helps streamline your clinical workflow.

Can these scissors be used for cutting tissue?

No, these are strictly intended for suture removal. They feature a specific hook-tip configuration designed to elevate thread, rather than the sharp edges required for cutting human tissue.

Is the bulk packaging helpful for busy clinics?

Yes, the case of 50 units is an excellent solution for high-throughput environments like surgical centers or clinics. It simplifies inventory management and ensures a steady supply of sterile tools without the need for reprocessing.

How do these help improve daily clinical efficiency?

By being fully disposable, these scissors eliminate the time and costs associated with cleaning, inspection, and autoclave sterilization cycles, allowing your staff to focus more on patient care.

Do these scissors feel comfortable to hold during use?

Yes, they feature standard finger ring handles designed for ergonomic control. This classic grip provides the stability needed for the precise, careful movements required when extracting sutures.

What is the primary benefit of the blunt-tipped design?

The Blunt/Blunt (B/B) tip configuration is designed to prioritize patient safety. By eliminating sharp or pointed tips, the risk of accidental tissue trauma during the delicate process of lifting and cutting a suture is significantly minimized.
