Description

Econo Sterile Littauer Suture Scissors are a ready-to-use, sterile, disposable, floor-grade instrument used for suture removal. These scissors have a small hook shaped tip on one blade that slides under sutures to slightly lift them before cutting for removal. This hook also holds the suture so it does not slip off the blade of the scissors prior to cutting. Littauer suture scissors typically have larger, less delicate tips than Spencer Stitch Scissors, and are often used for removing larger sutures. They should not be used for cutting tissue. This product is straight with smooth, blunt/blunt tips and a length of 5-1/2 inches. They are sold in cases of 100.

Frequently asked questions

Are these scissors safe for use on patients with latex allergies?

Yes, these scissors are not made with natural rubber latex, making them a safe choice for clinical environments where latex sensitivity is a concern.

How do these scissors prevent suture slippage during removal?

The scissors feature a specialized suture hook tip. One of the blades includes a small hook that slides under the suture to lift it securely, which prevents the thread from sliding off the blades during the cutting process.

Can I use these to cut through delicate skin tissue?

No, these scissors are strictly intended for suture removal only. They are not designed or suitable for cutting through human tissue.

Are these instruments sterile right out of the package?

Yes, each unit is supplied individually packaged and sterile. Because they are disposable, you eliminate the overhead costs and risks associated with cleaning and re-sterilizing instruments.

Why is the Littauer pattern preferred for certain procedures?

The Littauer pattern is particularly effective for excising larger suture sizes. Compared to other styles, such as Spencer Stitch Scissors, these have slightly larger and more robust tips that offer better control for heavier suture materials.

What is the material composition of these scissors?

These instruments are manufactured from high-quality stainless steel, ensuring the durability and precision required for surgical instruments while remaining cost-effective for single-use applications.

Are these suitable for high-volume clinical settings?

Yes, they are classified as Econo Sterile Floor Grade, which makes them a reliable and convenient solution for high-volume procedures in clinical settings, emergency departments, or operating rooms where immediate, sterile access is a priority.

What is included when I order a case?

Each case contains 100 individually packaged, sterile Littauer Suture Scissors, ensuring a streamlined and efficient inventory management process for your facility.

How long are these scissors?

These scissors measure 5-1/2 inches in length, providing a standard, comfortable reach for professional suture removal tasks.

Do these require any special cleaning before use?

No cleaning is required. These are factory-new, disposable instruments that come ready for immediate use, helping you maintain a high standard of infection control by avoiding the risks of cross-contamination.
