Description

Econo Spencer Stitch Scissors are are a ready-to-use, sterile, disposable, floor-grade instrument. They are primarily used for suture removal. These finger ring scissors have a small hook shaped tip on one blade that slides under sutures to slightly lift them before cutting for removal. This hook also holds the suture so it does not slip off the blade of the scissors prior to cutting. They should not be used for cutting tissue. Econo instruments are Sklar's floor-grade, disposable instruments and are sold in bulk quantities.

Frequently asked questions

Does the hook tip help prevent suture slippage?

Yes. The scissors feature a specialized small hook-shaped tip on one blade. This design allows you to:

  • Easily slide under the suture.
  • Lift the suture securely.
  • Maintain stability against the opposing blade to prevent the thread from slipping during the cut.
Are these scissors safe for patients with latex allergies?

Absolutely. These instruments are manufactured without natural rubber latex, making them a safe choice for environments where latex sensitivity is a concern for both patients and clinicians.

Are these scissors suitable for cutting biological tissue?

No. These instruments are strictly intended for suture removal only. Using them to cut tissue is not recommended, as they are engineered specifically with a blunt-tip hook design for stitch management.

What is the benefit of the Econo floor-grade design?

The Sklar Econo line is designed for efficiency and convenience in high-volume clinical settings. Benefits include:

  • Disposable: Eliminates the need for time-consuming cleaning and sterilization cycles between uses.
  • Economical: Sold in bulk boxes of 12 to provide cost-effective solutions for busy medical practices.
Are the blades sharp enough for clean cuts?

Yes. Although they are disposable floor-grade tools, they are constructed from durable stainless steel and feature a smooth working edge, ensuring they remain reliable and effective for their designated suture-removal function.

What is the total length of the instrument?

These scissors measure 4-1/2 inches in length, providing an ideal, manageable size for precision work during suture removal.

Are these provided as sterile or non-sterile tools?

These units are supplied as non-sterile. They are ready for use upon your facility’s established sterilization or clinical protocols.

Is the design comfortable for professional use?

Yes. The scissors are built with traditional finger-ring handles, which are the industry standard for providing optimal grip, control, and tactile feedback during delicate medical procedures.

How many pairs come in each order?

Each unit of measure is a Box (BX) containing 12 individual scissors, making it easy to stock your supply closet for regular clinical needs.

Is the construction durable despite being disposable?

Yes. Even though they are categorized as disposable floor-grade instruments, they are crafted from quality stainless steel, ensuring robust performance during their single-use lifecycle.
