Frequently asked questions

Is this system effective for various benign skin lesions?

Yes, the CryoConcepts Histofreezer is a highly effective, professional-grade, non-invasive cryosurgical tool designed to treat nine common types of benign skin lesions. It provides clinical resolution rates comparable to traditional liquid nitrogen treatments, with most procedures taking between 15 and 40 seconds per lesion.

Conditions that can be effectively treated include:

  • Common Warts
  • Plantar Warts
  • Genital Warts (Condyloma Acuminata)
  • Skin Tags (Acrochordons)
  • Actinic Keratosis
  • Seborrheic Keratosis

The system is well-suited for various medical settings, including primary care, dermatology, podiatry, and OB/GYN, offering a precise, patient-friendly alternative to more aggressive surgical procedures.

What versatile Histofreezer kit configurations are offered?

The CryoConcepts Histofreezer Portable Cryosurgical System offers several versatile kit configurations, allowing practitioners to choose the best option based on their practice volume and the size of lesions they typically treat. These kits are available as Single Units or in Cases of 5.

Key configurations include:

  • Starter Kit (36M1C): Ideal for general practice or for placement in individual exam rooms due to its compact size.
  • Specialty Kits (e.g., 40T1C-2MM, 36F1C-5MM): Designed for specific treatment needs, such as smaller lesions (2mm applicators) or larger lesions/plantar warts (5mm applicators).
  • Value Kit (60M2C+10): Recommended for high-volume practices, offering greater capacity with two cryogen canisters.
Do Histofreezer kits offer different applicator sizes?

Yes, the Histofreezer System utilizes two main applicator sizes, 2 mm and 5 mm, to accommodate various lesion sizes and treatment requirements. The size or mix of sizes included depends entirely on the specific kit configuration chosen.

Applicator Cold Duration and Usage

The applicators are engineered to maintain cryogen cold duration for effective treatment:

  • The 2 mm applicator remains saturated and cold for up to 90 seconds.
  • The 5 mm applicator remains saturated and cold for up to 120 seconds.
  • Each fully saturated application allows for the treatment of 1 to 2 lesions on the same patient.

Kit Configurations

  • Mixed Kits (Versatility): The 36M1C Starter Kit and the 60M2C+10 Value Kit include a combination of both 2 mm and 5 mm applicators for general use.
  • Specialty Kits (Single Size): Other kits, like the 36F1C-5MM or 40T1C-2MM, focus on specific needs and contain only one applicator size.
How many treatments are included per kit?

The application capacity varies depending on the specific kit configuration you select. Since one saturated applicator can potentially treat 1 to 2 lesions on the same patient, the total potential treatment volume is highly versatile.

The kits are generally configured to offer the following range of treatments:

  • Starter and Specialty Kits: Offer between 36 to 72 total potential treatments.
  • Value Kits: Offer between 70 to 140 total potential treatments.
