Frequently asked questions

What is the maximum reuse limit for these forceps?

These reusable forceps are constructed from durable, surgical-grade coated stainless steel.

They are designed to maintain performance and durability for a maximum of 20 repeated uses (or 90 days, whichever occurs first).

For proper care, the instruments are autoclavable. However, you must avoid cold sterilization methods, as they can damage the insulating material.

What procedures are these ideal for?

These forceps, with their 1 mm micro tips, are specifically designed for precise desiccation and coagulation in various surgical procedures, including:

  • Neurosurgical
  • Ophthalmic
  • Plastic
  • Reconstructive
Does it feature precise 1 mm micro tips?

Yes, these ConMed Bipolar Forceps feature 1 mm micro tips with a straight tip style. This size is specifically designed for highly accurate desiccation and coagulation control, making them essential for delicate procedures in specialized surgical fields.

Are these high-precision forceps fully insulated?

Yes, the ConMed Bipolar Forceps are engineered with insulated construction.

This design is crucial for safe and precise electrosurgical operation. The insulation supports the controlled delivery of high-frequency electrical current only through the 1 mm micro tips, ensuring focused coagulation and helping to prevent unintended tissue damage during delicate procedures (such as neurosurgical or ophthalmic applications).

What material are they made from?

The forceps are constructed from coated stainless steel, offering durability and longevity for repeated surgical use.

What is the length of the forceps?

The ConMed Bipolar Forceps have a length of 7 inches (18 cm).

Are these compatible with any electrosurgical unit?

These forceps are specifically designed for use with the ConMed Hyfrecator 2000 system and are generally not intended for use with other electrosurgical units. To operate them effectively, you must also use two required accessories (not included):* Foot switch* Bipolar cord

Is surgical-grade material used?

Yes, these ConMed Bipolar Forceps are constructed using surgical-grade coated stainless steel, ensuring high performance and durability for precise electrosurgical tasks. They are specifically designed for applications requiring high accuracy, such as neurosurgery and ophthalmology.Key features derived from this robust construction include:* Precision: The surgical-grade material supports the delicate 1 mm Gerald Micro Tips.* Insulation: The body is insulated, which is critical for safe operation when applying high-frequency electrical current.* Reusability: The forceps are autoclavable and rated for up to 20 repeated uses, offering reliable long-term value.

What is the proper sterilization method?

The ConMed Bipolar Forceps are designed for safe sterilization via autoclaving.

As these are reusable, surgical-grade instruments, please note the following crucial details:

  • Sterilization Cycle Limit: The forceps are rated for a maximum of 20 repeated uses.
  • Initial Condition: The product is shipped in a non-sterile condition and must be sterilized before first use.
  • Important Warning: Avoid using cold sterilization methods, as this can cause damage to the insulating material of the instrument.
Is the bipolar cord included with the forceps?

No, the ConMed Bipolar Forceps (#7-809-2) do not include the bipolar cord or the foot switch.

These items must be acquired separately, as they are required accessories for connecting and operating the forceps with the compatible Hyfrecator 2000 system.
