Frequently asked questions

Do these tubes ensure excellent pathogen control?

Yes, the Coag-Sense Sample Transfer Tubes are specifically designed to provide excellent blood-borne pathogen control during PT/INR testing. Their hygienic features include:

  • Reduced Cross-Contamination: Only the disposable tube contacts the patient’s finger, isolating the blood sample from the monitoring instrument (Coag-Sense PT2).
  • Minimal Cleaning: This isolation significantly reduces the necessity for instrument cleaning between successive patient tests.
  • Secure Construction: The tubes are constructed from glass with protective plastic cladding, ensuring integrity and safe handling during the blood transfer process.
Do these tubes help reduce test strip wastage?

Yes, these tubes are designed to minimize test strip wastage, providing a cost-effective solution by ensuring accurate blood sample collection and application.

Do these tubes ensure accurate blood volume?

Yes, Coag-Sense Sample Transfer Tubes are specifically designed to deliver the precise volume of capillary blood required by the Coag-Sense PT2 PT/INR Monitoring System. This accurate delivery is crucial for reliable test results and helps minimize test strip wastage. The tubes also feature preloaded plungers for easy and consistent sample collection and application.

Can these tubes help prevent sample failures?

Yes, by utilizing a preloaded plunger design, these tubes provide a consistent and controlled transfer of capillary blood. This reliability helps ensure you get an accurate INR reading in a single pricking, effectively reducing the risk of sample failure.

Do these tubes help reduce instrument contamination?

Absolutely. Because the transfer tube acts as the sole point of contact with the patient’s finger, the Coag-Sense PT2 instrument itself stays protected. This design significantly reduces the need for frequent cleaning between patients or tests.

Are these transfer tubes compatible with all PT/INR systems?

No, these transfer tubes are designed specifically for use only with the Coag-Sense PT2 PT/INR Monitoring System.

Their design is critical for ensuring:

  • Accurate Volume Delivery: They guarantee the precise volume of capillary blood needed by the PT2 system for accurate results.
  • Enhanced Hygiene: They help reduce cross-contamination risk, as only the tube makes contact with the patient’s finger/blood sample, minimizing the need for instrument cleaning between uses.
Do the transfer tubes simplify blood collection?

Yes, these Coag-Sense Sample Transfer Tubes are specifically designed to simplify and improve the hygiene and precision of capillary blood collection for the Coag-Sense PT2 PT/INR Monitoring System. They are an essential consumable accessory that streamlines the testing workflow.

Key features that simplify the process include:

  • Optimized Delivery: They are engineered to deliver the precise volume of capillary blood required, which supports reliable results and helps minimize test strip wastage.
  • Ease of Use: Each tube features preloaded plungers that facilitate easy collection and accurate application of the sample onto the test strip.
  • Enhanced Hygiene: For superior blood-borne pathogen control, only the disposable tube contacts the patient’s finger, which significantly reduces the need for instrument cleaning between different patients.
  • Secure Quality: The tubes are constructed of glass with protective plastic cladding and are supplied in vacuum sealed packaging to ensure sterility and integrity.
Is this product suitable for professional or home use?

Yes, these transfer tubes are designed for versatile use. They are fully suitable for professional healthcare settings as well as home monitoring (self-testing) when used with the Coag-Sense PT2 PT/INR Monitoring System. Their hygienic design ensures safe and accurate capillary blood collection in both environments.

How should I store these tubes before use?

To maintain optimal cleanliness and product integrity, it is recommended to keep the tubes in their original vacuum-sealed packaging until you are ready to use them. This ensures they remain protected from environmental contaminants.

Are the transfer tubes glass and plastic clad?

Yes, the Coag-Sense Sample Transfer Tubes are constructed from glass tubes that are protected by plastic cladding.

This material combination is specifically designed to enhance durability and safety during sample handling, minimizing the risk of breakage and ensuring precise blood transfer for accurate PT/INR monitoring.

Sample transfer tubes designed for at-home INR/PT testing. Customers said these tubes are "the best" for reliable blood collection and release, with one noting "they never fail to collect" unlike other types. Praised for working consistently with sensors and requiring only one pricking. Quick delivery and good quality noted.

What is the difference between a preloaded transfer tube and non-preloaded tube?

MFI Medical

Hello Randolph,

Thank you for your inquiry.

The difference between the preloaded and non-preloaded (with plungers) Coag-Sense Sample Transfer Tubes is as follows:

Preloaded Transfer Tubes: These tubes come with the plungers already inserted into each tube. This makes the process of collecting and applying blood to the test strip quicker and more convenient, as you do not need to manually insert the plunger before use. It also helps minimize instrument cleaning, since only the tube touches the patient’s finger.

Non-Preloaded (with Plungers) Tubes: These tubes include plungers, but the plungers are not pre-inserted. You will need to manually insert the plunger into each tube before use. All other features and intended uses are the same between the two configurations.

If you would like to review the product or its variants, you can find more details on the product page for the Coag-Sense Sample Transfer Tube (54/Box).

What is the difference between preloaded plunger and the other type?

MFI Medical

Hello Edward,

Thank you for your inquiry.

The main difference between the preloaded plunger and the other type lies in the design and convenience of use. The preloaded plunger is assembled and integrated into the tube during manufacturing. This means it is ready to use immediately, which can help minimize setup time and reduce the potential for contamination by limiting manual handling. On the other hand, the version without a preloaded plunger usually requires the plunger to be manually loaded or assembled by the user before use. This additional step can affect the speed and simplicity of the operation.
