Description

The Allied Healthcare Constant Flow Selector Valve is a clearly marked oxygen flow gauge for use with oxygen resuscitation sources.

Warranty: 90 Days - Parts and Labor.

The Constant Flow Selector Valve is intended for hospital and portable oxygen systems where a metered supply of oxygen is required. Unlike standard flow meters and flow gages, the LSP selector valves have five clearly marked flow rate settings. They're also colored in such a way that makes them easy to read in any orientation or low lighting. The 1/8" NPT thread is compatible with Schrader, Hansen, NCG, or Ohio Medical disconnects.

The selector valves are made from a durable polycarbonate and lightweight aluminum that is low-profile and ideal for rugged use.

Frequently asked questions

Is the selector valve durable?

Yes, the Constant Flow Selector Valve is engineered for rugged, long-term durability in demanding medical environments, including hospital and portable oxygen systems.

Its robust, low-profile construction uses high-quality materials:

  • The main body is constructed from anodized aluminum, providing a highly durable structure.
  • The operating knob is made from tough polycarbonate.

This material choice also allows the valve to operate reliably across a wide temperature range, specifically from -30 °F to 125 °F.

What standard inlet thread ensures broad compatibility?

The Allied Healthcare Constant Flow Selector Valve uses a standard 1/8” NPT female inlet port. This design ensures broad compatibility with common disconnect types used in oxygen systems, including:

  • Schrader
  • Hansen
  • NCG
  • Ohio Medical

For precise operation, the valve is calibrated to operate at a nominal inlet pressure of 50 psig.

What is the required inlet pressure?

The Allied Healthcare Constant Flow Selector Valve is engineered to operate efficiently with an inlet pressure of 50 psig nominal.

This nominal pressure is the standard at which the valve is calibrated (at 70 °F / 21 °C), ensuring that the flow rate settings maintain an accuracy within ± 10%.

What is the valve's temperature range?

The Allied Healthcare Constant Flow Selector Valve is built for rugged use and wide environmental tolerance.

The temperature specifications are:

  • Operating Temperature Range: -30 °F to 125 °F
  • Storage Temperature Range: -40 °F to 160 °F

This broad range ensures reliable performance in both portable and fixed medical settings.

Is this valve suitable for hospital and portable oxygen use?

Yes, the Allied Healthcare Constant Flow Selector Valve is specifically designed for both hospital oxygen systems and portable oxygen sources that require precise metering and flow control.

Its construction is built to ensure long-term reliability in demanding medical environments:

  • Durable Materials: Features a low-profile body made of anodized aluminum and a rugged polycarbonate knob.
  • High Visibility: Flow indicators are color-coded for readability in various lighting conditions and orientations.
  • Integrated Protection: Includes a 25 micron stainless steel mesh screen filter to protect the system and ensure clean flow.
What are the distinct flow rate settings?

The Constant Flow Selector Valve offers five distinct, clearly marked flow rate settings for precise oxygen metering. These settings are designed for easy readability even in low-light conditions. The available flow rates vary by configuration:

Configuration Flow Rate Settings (lpm) Max Flow Rate
Standard (L233, L233-020) 2, 4, 6, 10, 15 15 lpm
High Flow (L233-050) 2, 4, 6, 10, 25 25 lpm

All selected flow rates are calibrated to be accurate within ±10% of the nominal value under standard conditions (50 psig inlet pressure at 70 °F / 21 °C).

Is a high-quality filter included with the valve?

Yes, the Allied Healthcare Constant Flow Selector Valve is equipped with an integrated filter to ensure system cleanliness and longevity. The valve includes a durable 25 micron stainless steel mesh screen filter. This filter is essential for preventing contaminants from entering the oxygen flow system, ensuring a clean supply and protecting the internal components of the valve.

Is the flow selector valve highly visible?

Yes, the Allied Healthcare Constant Flow Selector Valve is specifically engineered for enhanced readability and visibility, ensuring accurate metered oxygen delivery even in low-light conditions or varied orientations. This is achieved through:

  • Clear, Colored Labeling: The five distinct flow rate settings (2, 4, 6, 10, and either 15 or 25 lpm, depending on the variant) are clearly marked and colored to ensure legibility regardless of ambient lighting.
  • Durable Construction: The valve features a rugged, low-profile anodized aluminum body and a sturdy polycarbonate knob, designed to maintain functional clarity and visibility over long-term, demanding use.
Does this valve perform reliably in extreme temperatures?

Yes, this valve is engineered for durability across a wide range of environmental conditions. It is rated for operation between -30°F and 125°F, and can be safely stored in temperatures ranging from -40°F to 160°F, making it suitable for demanding clinical or transport environments.

Is the internal filtering system easy to maintain?

The device features a built-in 25-micron stainless steel mesh screen. This high-quality integrated filter ensures:

  • Consistent oxygen purity
  • Protection of the internal mechanism from debris
  • Long-term reliability during frequent clinical use
